Understanding PTSD

November 9th

Please join us as Nick Jikomes, Leafly’s principal research scientist, discusses the biology of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with a focus on the brain.

PTSD is a neuropsychiatric disorder caused by severe trauma that is characterized by long-term mental health disturbances. Nick will talk about the neurobiology of PTSD, including animal studies linking “fear extinction” and the endocannabinoid system, as well as human clinical trials currently being designed in the U.S. and Canada that investigate the efficacy of medical cannabis for PTSD.

With nearly a decade of scientific research experience, Nick works to ensure that Leafly takes a data-driven approach to product development, content, and strategy. Before joining Leafly, Nick completed ten years of formal training in biological research and science education. He earned a B.S. in genetics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2011 and a Ph.D. in neuroscience at Harvard University in 2016.

This event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP to hello@velasodo.com
