“I sent a copy of the following email to Uplift Botanicals at 5421 NE 33rd Avenue Portland, OR. Dispensaries today are eager to receive reviews from their customers for posting to your site when they are positive. This one is not positive but should probably be posted none the less.
TO: Business Owners
Yesterday I reviewed your link at leafly.com and found that you are selling Dream Lotus for $10 per gram. Today I dropped by your business and bought 2 grams of Dream Lotus and paid $26. Received no receipt, no caution notice, no camaraderie. Today I am again seeing the pricing at your business link to leafly remains at $10 per gram on the Leafly website after my purchase was made.
Poor representation of your business in my opinion. Your math doesn't add up. I am not inclined to be a repeat customer.
Doesn't seem to me that you want my business or that of other leafly customers.
The following is the response I received from Uplift Botanicals:
Just wanted to address your concerns and assure you that there's no intent to deceive you or any of our customers. I'm sorry that our Leafly page appeared confusing. It can be really hard for us to keep it up to date as well as accurate for both medical and recreational customers. The $10/g price on Dream Lotus is actually for medical patients. That said the reason that you paid $26 for 2 grams is due to the state imposed tax of 25% to all recreational customers which every dispensary has to charge. In our case we raise the rec price slightly to $10.40 a gram so that when you add the 25% sales tax it equals a round number which is $13 a gram. We would be happy to provide you a receipt for your purchase anytime and can still offer you one if you'd like which will break down the costs as I described. Anyhow I hope that at the least the Dream Lotus treated you well and please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or if there's anything else we can do.
“prices are very misleading. came in thinking rec prices were medical plus tax because that's what it says on their "overview" page. nope. they are charging more for rec. and then adding tax on top of that. for example, a $30 1/8 should be $37.50 after tax. Uplift is charging $50.00 after tax for a rec 1/8. no, thanks. i'll stick to the places that aren't gouging rec. customers.”
“Glad there is a person on color working there. All the bud tenders were super nice and helpful. Open late until 10pm. Quality and Price was great! I said I had 40 to spend they have a couple of tiers and I was able to get some Fire! That sour apple was tasty and got me lit!”
“I looked at their menu on Leafly I even read your bio where it said tax was included in your pricing I even called and ask if tax was included in your menu pricing whoever picked up the phone said yes but as soon as I got to this store the menu prices were totally different than what was on Leafly higher than 25% tax as well you guys gotta stop doing this to us we appreciate the convenience but at the same time the price gouging is getting out of hand”
“ It's local and they have a pretty wide inventory, otherwise it's an afterthought.
The budtenders really don't know much, every time I've been in and asked questions they've basically just read the descriptions of the strains as they're described on Leafly.
I recently went in for high CBD concentrate, their menu said they had some Cannatonic that was $35/g. When I got there they didn't know what I was talking about when I mentioned the product, first they told me that it was medical only (without explanation), and then they found out that they did not actually stock that product. Since I had a shoulder injury and was in pain, I didn't really have time or capacity to run around the city looking for something better, so I just purchased a cartridge of Harle-Tsu for $50, which was $15 more than they had on their menu that is apparently updated for sales tax.
The stuff was good enough, good as any other high CBD sativa dominant I've had. Unfortunately the cartridge malfunctioned and oil got into the air slot, making it impossible to pull air from the cart. In my efforts to try to salvage the cart I lost track of the blue plug that keeps most of the concentrate on the inside of the cart. This should in no way interrupt the function of the air duct. When I went in asking for assistance, I was turned away because this blue plug was missing, and was not really given a chance to argue my point.
I'm disappointed with you guys. Your menu ISN'T updated or accurate and your help, well, doesn't. ”
