In March 2014, Leafly launched its series of strain tile tees for our community to proudly represent and support the cannabis legalization movement. The reaction to this exclusive product was more than we ever could have hoped for. Thanks to you, the cannabis movement has grown into millions of dedicated supporters, and we're honored that many of you wear our strain tees with pride.
For months we opted not to make our strain tile tees available for purchase, instead choosing to hand them out to the most passionate supporters of both Leafly and cannabis reform. Today that policy changes: for the first time ever, Leafly is releasing a select set of strain tees for sale to support a great cause.
Proceeds from all Leafly strain shirt sales will be donated to the Be Strong. Fight On! Foundation, or BSFO. BSFO was founded in memory of nine-year-old Zach Guillot, who passed away last February after four years of battling an aggressive form of leukemia known as AML (acute myeloid leukemia). AML is a difficult-to-treat cancer which forms inside bone marrow, earning the title of "acute" due to its extremely fast progression. Be Strong. Fight On! is dedicated to supporting research for therapies benefiting pediatric cancer patients.
How to Order a Leafly Strain Tile Tee and Support Be Strong. Fight On!
- Place Your Orders. Submit an order for your own Blue Dream, Granddaddy Purple, or Super Silver Haze stain shirts in the Leafly store.
- Get the Word Out. Share this post on social media, tag three friends who you think would want a strain tile tee of their own, and encourage them to support both BSFO and the cannabis movement.
- Flex Them Muscles! Once your shirt arrives, show us how strong you are! Keep the movement going by posting a photo of yourself flexing in your Leafly strain tile shirt on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook. Tag @Leafly and use #BeStrongFightOn to help raise awareness for safer, smarter cancer treatments.
We are partnering with Be Strong. Fight On! to help researchers receive the funding they need to fast-track immunotherapy for children with AML. BSFO's goal is to raise $650,000 to help fund specific projects pertaining to immunotherapy at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington. So far, Be Strong. Fight On! has raised around $420,000.
For a limited time, when you purchase a Leafly strain tile tee for $25, all proceeds will be donated to BSFO, helping them get closer to their fundraising goal.
The Inspiration and Driving Force Behind Be Strong. Fight On!
As told by Zach’s parents, Jeff and Julie Guillot:
For four long years, our first born son, Zach, fought acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and endured three bone marrow transplants and numerous rounds of brutal chemotherapy in pursuit of a cure. We moved our family twice and received treatment in three different hospitals, all in search of curative treatment for Zach's aggressive cancer. We researched, pushed, enrolled in clinical trials, tried new therapies, and worked round-the-clock each day to give Zach every advantage to beat his leukemia.
Unfortunately, he died at the age of 9 from the cumulative effects of four years of chemotherapy. He was never able to receive the re-engineered T-cells that were being built for him during transplant, a new, cutting-edge AML therapy in development at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. As a family, we believe that we had many advantages, and even in the end, when most kids would have been out of options, we had miraculously found a potential path to a real cure.
Zach survived much longer than most kids with twice relapsed AML; his doctor even described him as a "medical marvel." It is now our goal to share what we (and other families) have learned with those still in the fight, and help other kids gain "the edge" in their fight against childhood cancer.
