Northern Canadians Unlikely to Benefit From New Record-Suspension Bill
Across Nunavut, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories, 2,627 people were convicted of cannabis possession in the final two decades of prohibition.
The new record-suspension Bill C-93 claims it is a “no cost” solution to petty cannabis convictions, however, there is an out of pocket cost to apply and order criminal records.
Canadian Cannabis Retail Stores Concentrated in Low-Income Areas
A new research partnership between the Ottawa Hospital, the University of Ottawa, and the Bruyère Research Institute (also in Ottawa) released the findings of a peer-reviewed study in CMAJ Open on the geography of the 260 cannabis retail stores open across Canada during the first six months of legalization.
Here’s Where Ontario’s Next Crop of Legal Cannabis Stores Will Open
Recently, Ontario’s Alcohol and Gaming Commission released the names and proposed locations selected for the province’s next wave of legal cannabis retail.
In total, and provided the winners can meet the criteria required for licensing, 50 new locations are set to open, with 42 spread out across the province and another eight located within First Nations communities.
Some of the winners, however, have proven remarkably contentious.
