Weekend Weirdness: Cannabis Discovered Near Jupiter…

Published on September 26, 2015 · Last updated July 28, 2020

…Jupiter, Florida, that is. (Sorry, but it looks like we'll have to wait a while longer for the discovery of space strains.)

50 lbs of cannabis recently washed ashore in Jupiter, a town located in Palm Beach County, Florida. Last Friday the southeastern stretch of coastline experienced quite a surprise when several bales of cannabis graced its shores.

Authorities believe that the drugs originated from smugglers and are currently searching for the culprits, who are believed to hail from somewhere in the Caribbean. As for how all that cannabis ended up there in the first place, it could have been dropped from a plane or boat, but law enforcement isn't certain where these, ahem, drops of Jupiter came from. (For those of you who hate me for that groan-inducing Train song reference, here's some David Bowie to make up for it. He's not singing about Jupiter, but Mars is pretty cool, too.)
