Mendocino Purps

2/7/2011
I believe everyone has a strain that's just right for them, like a marijuana soul mate, and Mendocino Purps is mine. Especially good for alleviating depression and lack of appetite, Mendo Purps creates a relaxed, tingly, happy, and social high. It's really versatile; the only strain I never get tired of. Incredibly gentle comedown.

Purple Urkle

2/6/2011
Never really knew what couch lock was until I smoked Purple Urkle...and decided I didn't like it. I love a good body stone, but being glued to the couch is not my idea of a fun time. This strain would probably be good for insomniacs or heavy smokers with a high tolerance. Otherwise, skip it.

Blackberry Kush

Not a fan. While this was probably the prettiest bud I've ever seen--lavender, coated in crystals--and very effective as a pain reliever, it was just no fun at all. No uplifting properties to speak of, no munchies, no sound enhancement; just a stoney painkiller.

Casey Jones

A smooth sativa that acts almost entirely on the psyche, with little body high. Brought me out of a bad mood and provided a true energy boost. The high is also quite social.

LA Confidential

Even though it's a pure indica, LA Confidential remains a fantastic all-around strain. Great as an inspiration for devouring food, watching a movie, or laughing conspiratorially with friends. I think LA Confidential's best attribute is its ability to eliminate stress. It will have you feeling like a hungry, happy, melting pad of butter without inducing couchlock.

J1

J1 is my favorite strain to date. It puts a smile on your face, makes music sound better, eases anxiety, adds that extra special sheen to social situations, and still leaves you capable enough to function at work. This is your textbook sativa. It won't make you hungry or glue you to the couch, but I promise it will make life look significantly better for a few hours. A long-lasting and hard-hitting example.

Granddaddy Purple

GDP practically grows like weeds (no pun intended) up here in the Bay Area. It's a pretty one-dimensional indica, not the kinda thing you'd wanna smoke daily. That said, it's also a classic indica that delivers exactly what this species is known for. GDP functions amazingly as both a nausea suppressant and appetite stimulator. One bowl of this stuff not only obliterates queasiness, but leaves you craving nachos, ice cream, or whatever you can rustle up in your kitchen. I smoked this at a concert and had trouble walking. If that's your thing, smoke up.
