Off The Charts - Palm Springs

Zero stars if that were an option. I walked in asking for what I’ve always known as a blunt. It quickly became obvious that the employee and I were using different terminology, which is perfectly fine. What isn’t fine is how she handled it. Instead of explaining the difference or making sure I understood what I was buying, she rushed through an explanation that made no sense to someone unfamiliar with the product. She never actually told me what I was purchasing or what to expect. When I got home and opened it, the packaging was completely unfamiliar, the product spilled everywhere, and it was immediately obvious I’d been sold something I didn’t understand. I returned to the store and explained exactly what happened. Rather than acknowledging that there had been a communication breakdown, the employee actually told me, “It’s not my job to explain things like that. It’s your job to know what you’re buying.” Read that again. Apparently asking questions is now the customer’s fault. If you’re selling specialized products, customer education is part of customer service. Treating people like they’re stupid because they don’t know your terminology is arrogant, lazy, and completely backwards. Security eventually got involved over what should have been a simple conversation. To the store’s credit, they ultimately exchanged the product for the joint I had intended to buy all along, and I appreciate that they made it right. But that doesn’t erase how disrespectfully I was treated. A good dispensary welcomes questions. A bad one makes customers feel embarrassed for asking them. This experience was the latter, and unless management seriously addresses its customer service culture, I won’t be back.
