IC Collective started its journey in a figurative rowboat in Oakland on a street named Tidewater. The year was 2018 and IC Collective’s first grow location had to shutter. We ended up with 18 males from a breeding project and one Chem 91 female plant.  All the plants were left to flower... a lot of seeds were in the Chem 91 plant & these varietal are them. The potential male pollinators ranged from fruit to gas and in-between. 

The Tidewater flowers have rainbows hues that sparkle like the San Fransisco Bay. Greased up with a sweet 90’s fuel funk and a mash-up of our Bay Area Chem brigade.

This plant is the offspring of the original plant that resides in a California tissue culture lab. The original Cali Chem was produced from the same seed stock as Fog Dog. Keeping two plants from the same project is rare, but these cultivars had traits that Are so uniquely different that we did. This version of Cali Chem we found in the Illinois Pheno Hunt and it expresses itself more towards the Fog Dog with ripples of diesel and a sweet lingering taste of lavender gasoline. The effects can be a gradual lift or a blast into space.

The California Ziablo genetic did not survive the Oakland facility fire, so we popped a few reserved seeds from the original breeding project to find the Illinois strain. This pheno was selected because it tastes good and tests high for terpenes and THC.

Ziablo has a forward sweet smell with an underlying funk that offers tribute to the Zerps, Kush, and Chem lineages. Our love for the original Chem Dog spurred a fascination with cannabis that started in 1991.  When we pop seeds from our collection that we have grown and reserved over the years, we are looking for good weed. And by good weed, we mean that it has to be better or comparable to the strains and terpenes we have cherished for over 30 years.

Chem 5 checks all our pheno-hunt selection boxes - awesome structure, smell, smokability, and it is fun to grow! This strain is a Chem Dog 91 offspring that brings the past to the future. Heavy on the Chem in smell and high, with a contemporary structure producing subtle hues of purple that create an indica leaning hybrid. 

ICC’s founder was one of the original testers of the Dogbud seeds Chem 1, 2, 3 and 4 when they were broken out in the early 2000’s. Coincidentally, this pheno’s identifying number during our in-house testing was ‘Chem 5.’  After a few test rounds and a few high fives, the name Chem 5 stuck as an ode to the past and a look to the future.
