BLUEBERRY (AFGHANI X THAI X PURPLE THAI)    Blueberry is an Indica-dominant strain that has been obtained from a cross between Afghani x Thai x Purple Thai. It's genetics makes this plant qualify as one of the best Indica for smoking. West Coast Blueberry since the 1970s, is a combination of three iconic landraces. Afghani needs little introduction and is the source of the Indica strength of her hybrid offspring. On the other hand, the Thai and Purple Thai genes bring a happy and uplifting influence. This is one of the reasons that people have turned to this strain in their fight against depression.    Blueberry is a sight to behold. If there was a beauty pageant for cannabis plants, this charmer would surely take home the crown. Bushy and branching, its thick foliage displays a wide range of colors as it matures. The greens and yellows can turn purple if the plant is exposed to cold temperatures. Their huge tails also sport shades of green, lavender, and purple. Upon closer inspection, the dense, tight buds captivate with their crystal glaze. Similar to the image of melting snow as spring approaches, the plant’s thick resin is, in fact, proof of its potency. The scattering of curly amber pistils adds more decoration the already beautiful buds.    In places where the outdoor climate is not ideal, growing indoors is a better option. Growers will first need to decide which medium to use. Soil provides a better flavor profile, while hydroponics allows for a higher growth rate.    Blueberry has a sweet taste with a fruity hint that takes tension away from the body. Favored by users who crave deep relaxation, its soothing buzz is ideal to end the night. When topped several times, you will have a multitude of extremely pliable branches with minimal leaves. Phenotypic variation in this strain relates mostly to coloring, with three styles emerging. Dark purple leaves with green and purple bud, light purple leaves with mostly green bud, and slight inter veinal purple on leaves and fully green bud.    Density: Average    Height: Average    Terpenes: Peppery and fruity. Caryophyllene and Limone are very dominant in all test samples. Humulene and Ocimene consistently rounded out the top 4 terpenes in all samples as well.    Effect: Very relaxing, but won't put you in a coma. May result in a pleasant lack of motivation during the day, or a smooth passage into slumber during the evening.    The Brainstorm was somewhat of a controversial grow for us; we had many debates about whether to include her on the Vol 1 drop or whether to keep working her. The trichome accumulation, coloring, and overall bag appeal left us drooling. It was truly a sight to see. The keepers were plentiful. Not a single plant in the tester run left us desiring more, other than perhaps some floppy branches inherited from our cut of Slurricane #7 (In House Genetics) – staking required, fyi. Ultimately, we chose to keep working her, trying to lock in the coloring and thicken up her branches. Regardless, we know that you will enjoy these ladies. They consistently produce mega-frosty, purple, dense, mouth watering flowers with crazy bag appeal. Enjoy! BUBBA KUSH (OG KUSH X AFGHAN)    Bubba Kush was developed from an extremely potent female, OG Kush x Afghan, that has a particularly pronounced terpene and cannabinoid profile. Both parent plants were selected through a long process of searching for flavor and potency to finally obtain the properties we had envisioned. Bubba Kush has small to medium sized buds that have the dense bud structure characteristic of indica varieties. The leaves are dark green and can sometimes show shades of purple, the result of anthocyanin pigments having been activated by cold temperatures during the growing process. This is a very resinous strain — a coating of white trichomes covers the colorful leaves and are even visible on the inside when buds are broken open.    Bubba Kush produces 200-250 gr/m2 indoors and 200-350 gr/plant outdoors and is an easy cannabis plant for expert and novice growers. This weed is ready to be harvested after 8-9 weeks of flowering, delivering long buds that are rich in THC.    Bubba Kush gives off an amazing terpene profile. Plant Morphology: Overall the Candy Apple Kush is highly impressive in its uniformity and high performance. You’ll notice differences in color, with 75% gaining purples and maroons in both the flower and the foliage, and 25% staying a vibrant green. Some of the green plants will get lavender purple calyxes close to harvest which is especially striking, especially on plants where the foliage stays green. Plants will stretch about 1.2 - 1.5x in the first three weeks of flower. They aren’t leggy at all and they grow very proportionately both vertically and laterally. No staking was required. Leaves are notably minimal in the flower and the buds are extremely dense. Across the plant as a whole, the volume of foliage produced is ideal for air flow and light penetration, both indoor and outdoor grows. Flowers are well developed throughout the canopy because very little light is blocked by foliage. Internodal spacing is medium with one phenotype exhibiting shorter, tighter internodal spacing than the other.

Terpenes: From berry apple to melon apple to sour apple, a sweet apple terpene profile definitely dominates this cross. Musk/gas/rubber notes are in the back of some phenos. The Bad Apple’s underlying rotten funk also comes through on some plants. Terps are pronounced and consistently incredible. Most phenos are caryophyllene dominant, followed by limonene and humulene. Outliers swapped caryophyllene and limonene for the top spot.

Effects: Candy Apple Kush is definitely an evening smoke. Solid for winding down and relaxing without deep thought. If you smoke it in the morning, you might want to go back to bed. This strain hits hard and hits strong, bringing you to stony-bologna land in just a couple of hits!

Notes from the Breeders:
The Candy Apple Kush is the sixth and final entry in Dirty Bird’s Volume 4 Series. A cross between Luna’s Wrath and Bad Apple (Sugar Mill Cut), the Candy Apple Kush represents a step forward for our Brunch-originated genetics, shining in all of the right places.

The flower from Candy Apple Kush is off the charts. Buds are very tight, colorful, and have an extremely high calyx-to-leaf ratio, making this strain easy to manicure and easy to sell. Bracts (calyxes) are knuckly and stack beautifully; their vivid color contrast makes for a visually striking plant. There is so much sugar here. You won’t be disappointed. Trichomes are colorful with tall stalks and medium sized heads. The Bad Apple is dominant in flower morphology with buds that are shaped like fat, bulbous, conical spears.

Overall, the Candy Apple Kush is a strain that screams Cup Winner to us. It performs on a very high level in every measure we have, and that level of quality is consistent whether you pop three seeds or 50 seeds. There’s no doubt that we are excited about this one, and looking forward to seeing how it performs in other gardens both indoor and out.

CHEMDOG #4 (CHEMDAWG X GREEN CRACK)    This strain of Chemdog #4, from the Chemdog family, produces a large plant with medium to large internodal spacing. It's characterized by being mostly indica, unlike its sisters who have a sativa tendency. Its genetics come from a Chemdog x Green Crack cross, which gives it a robust and forceful character.    Its size, which is usually compact, is ideal for indoor and outdoor growth. Greenhouse growers will be able to greatly enjoy these genetics. This strain can be difficult to grow, however flowers ranging from 20% – 22% THC will reward the gardener’s hard work.    The flowering period of Chemdog #4 is short, typically between 55-60 days indoors. However, outdoor growers can harvest between mid to late September. This plant withstands cultivation techniques such as apical pruning, stretching with LST or double cropping. We must emphasize that it is necessary to allow for proper ventilation indoors or in greenhouses to lower humidity levels.
