The ultimatum is an indication of the mounting frustration that medical cannabis still hasn’t reached patients nearly four years after lawmakers OK’d the system.

Patients have been waiting nearly four years. But one company finally has the go-ahead to grow cannabis.

Legislative leaders are “making progress, but we have a ways to go,” Gov. Phil Murphy said this week.

Support for legalization is strongest among 18-to-34-year-olds, with nearly 75% favoring it, according to a widely respected survey of social trends.

The chase developed as Greg Longenecker, 51, a short-order cook and avid vegetable gardener, tended 10 marijuana plants in a small clearing near Reading, Pennsylvania.

The bill has stalled in the Senate Finance Committee, and it doesn’t appear that the chair of the panel plans to give it a hearing.

New Mexico would become the first US state to set up its own government-run cannabis stores and subsidize medical cannabis for the poor under a bipartisan bill.

“I believe ultimately we can get there,” Cuomo said. “I believe we must get there. I don’t believe we get there in two weeks.”

The case is the latest where overseas money backed illicit cannabis-growing operations in places where the plant is legal for adults, prosecutors said.
