Today's Herbal Choice - Rainier

4/14/2025
Long Story Short: I bought a bong from Today’s Herbal Choice in Rainier, Oregon. The “Made in China” label was hidden under the price tag, and it turned out to be defective—it leaks from the bottom. When I brought this to their attention, their only offer was a discount toward another bong, meaning I’d have to risk another $100+ on a product that might also be low quality. I wasted $120 on a leaky bong, and they made it clear they don’t stand behind their glassware. Avoid buying glassware here. It’s not worth the gamble. Their “help” came in the form of a coupon to buy more glassware—no refunds, no real accountability. Just another chance to lose money. And if you get stuck with a faulty piece too, please speak up. They claim to rarely get complaints, but I think that’s because their policies stop most people from even trying. Here’s the Full Story: On March 5, 2025, I bought a bong from Today’s Herbal Choice in Rainier. I’d been a regular customer for over 18 months, and after searching a long time for the right piece, I was excited to finally find one I liked—even paid full price rather than wait for their usual glassware discount day. When I got home, I noticed the “Made in China” sticker had been covered by the $120 price tag. That was a red flag. A few days later, I spotted a puddle under the bong. At first, I assumed it was user error since it was larger than I was used to. But after some thorough testing, I confirmed it was leaking from the base—gross bong water seeping out shortly after filling it. I didn’t rush back to the store immediately—between working 60-hour weeks and dealing with car trouble, life got in the way. But that shouldn’t disqualify me from receiving fair treatment. On March 24, I called the shop. I was quickly told “glass sales are final,” a policy that likely deters most customers from pushing further. I asked to speak with a manager and was told to come in the next day. When I explained everything in person, the manager reiterated the "final sale" policy but offered me a discount on another glass piece. I asked if store credit could be used on other products—like THC or accessories—but was told it was only valid toward more glassware. I even floated the idea of a partial refund just to cover the $15 food-grade silicone I might need to attempt a repair myself. The manager said they “shouldn’t be offering anything at all,” making it feel like I was wrong for even bringing the issue up. Here’s the bigger issue: They mix questionable, low-quality glass in with the good stuff and leave it up to customers to gamble. There are no clear labels or signs to distinguish between brands, countries of origin, or quality tiers. If they really carried only high-quality bongs, they’d have a vendor to back them up when issues like mine come up—but clearly, that’s not the case. The manager claimed they don’t get many complaints, but that’s likely because of their front-line response: “glass sales are final.” That shuts people down before they even have a chance to be heard. After my visit, I called several Portland-area dispensaries. All of them said they would’ve either swapped the bong or found a better solution. Unfortunately, Today’s Herbal Choice wouldn’t consider that. They only offered a “generous” 40% discount—but keep in mind, they already do 20% off glass once a week, so it’s really not that generous. Bottom line: I paid $120 for a defective bong. Their solution? Pay more and roll the dice again on another one, with zero guarantee. I expected more from a business I’ve supported for over a year and a half. Final Thought: This could have been a small issue with a small fix. Instead, I’m left with a useless piece of glass, no confidence in their quality, and the sense that loyalty counts for nothing. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. I recommend you do the same—especially if you’re shopping for glassware.
