Take a hike at the Louisiana State Arboretum.  Located in Ville Platte within Chicot State Park, the Arboretum provides easy walking trails.  Drop in the visitor center to learn about the flora and fauna you will be seeing before you head out on your hike.  The trail leads through greenery, goes over wetlands and under sycamores.  A must for nature lovers and anyone who loves hiking and being outdoors. The Louisiana Art and Science Museum is located in Baton Rouge in a historic railroad depot right on the Mississippi River.  Go back in time as you walk thru the Ancient Egypt Gallery.  There are galleries exploring the solar system and universe.  Included is the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium which is the “star” attraction at the museum and features sky shows and movies.  Here you will learn about the night sky and celestial events all under a 60 foot dome.
