Tried in the early 2000s and if done right it really smells and tastes like grape soda it's so odd and so delicious.
Breeders are lost today breeding for potency instead of taste and smell
"Grape Ape is my go-to strain for the hours leading up to bedtime. It's perfect for unwinding after a long day, and I find myself getting sleepy fairly quickly, making it easy to drift off to sleep. The taste isn't bad either, with subtle hints of grape that make it a pleasant smoking experience. Definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a calming and soothing bedtime experience."
I really liked this one! The smoke isn’t as harsh as the other strains I’ve tried and the taste isn’t as harsh either. I was surprised when I smelled it and it genuinely smelled a little like grape.
Pretty pungent. Hits almost immediately. Great!
I‘m feel like I lay on a soft warm cloud that what comes close to it tbh. This strain would be a good against anxiety.
a top 10 strain to grow or pick up in any form, both flower and concentrate I've tried have been incredibly helpful for extreme insomnia, anxiety, spasticity & muscle spasms such as spinal cord, CNS disorders, neuropathy & others. the concentrate always has grape flavor & smell, not sickly sweet but a clean grape. however, upon growing & curing the flower, while very easy to grow & stunningly gorgeous, loses its flavor or never had in in flower. I've been told it's hard to get a grape strain that tastes like grape after the cure, so I'm testing 4 other grape strains now.
I highly recommend this as an overall great indica that doesn't incapacitate you immediately, it's a slower decline to sleep than say, alien cookies OG (not mac). those who find it difficult to relax will also appreciate this body and head high combo, though part of your high may be while dreaming.
This strain is highly overrated in my opinion (there are many overrated strains if you notice all the strains seem to be rated 4.5-4.8). It's just not very strong or sedating for a "night time" indica. Another problem is that it doesn't really make me drowsy and that's what I bought it for. It's also a very clear-headed experience, almost nothing going on as far as a head high whcih is another reason it doesn't really hit very hard, it's not a good "nyquil" bud IMHO. Yes it is relaxing, but just a little bit. The flavor is not that intense or the smell although the stuff I bought was on the lower end and it was very budget friendly.
It does give a body high but not that intense like some good GDP (grand daddy purple), or Pitbull (very good for sleep and easy to grow), God's Gift is good for sleep as well. I also found Sour Punch makes me drowsy so is a good night time strain even though it's a hybrid, sour punch has a strong head high and has some body high also it is a 50/50 it reminds me of good old permafrost in the way it makes me feel.
Many indicas are just a little underwhelming, and i feel that Grape Ape is one of those strains. Unless it's grown really well then that would probably be different. But there other strains that do a better job treating insomnia than Grape Ape. It's an ok mellow strain that tastes and smells a little like grapes and chocolate. If you want an indica that is not overwhelming, it would be a fine choice. What I want are Sativas that get me high and happy and indicas that help me sleep, grape ape falls short in that aspect. Maybe if the cross it with a sativa to give it more kick like cross it with purple punch.
i’m very new to smoking and consider myself a lightweight and this along with blue dream are the two that i reach for. makes me incredibly sleepy. by the time i take a hit, get into bed and turn on sleep asmr my lids are heavy LMAO i don’t get any paranoia except when i take too much to quickly. but that’s with any weed for me, so it may be different for others. overall very solid strain
Great smell! The hair on the back of my neck stood up. As far as effects, picture Grandaddy Purple on steroids. At first, it hit like a freight train and then I got swept away into a world of relaxation. Absolutely amazing! It's definitely in my top 3 of Indicas.
