Durban Poison is a classic landrace sativa strain, dating all the way back to Ed Rosenthal's historic trip to Amsterdam in the late 1970s. (If you don't know who Ed Rosenthal is, he's one of the people who wrote the "Marijuana Growers Guide," which kicked off the underground American cannabis cultivation boom in the mid-20th century. Without Rosenthal, weed as we know it today literally wouldn't exist.) Durban is a city in South Africa, and Durban Poison made its way to Amsterdam by means of a couple South African coffee shop owners. But enough about history—what's it feel like? Durban Poison is the closest thing cannabis gets to coffee. This is a stimulating strain, and not for the faint of heart! It hits hard, it hits fast, and once you come up, it doesn't let up. People with low tolerance will find Durban Poison overwhelming, but people with more experience are well-positioned to appreciate its energizing effects.
