Peanut Butter Crunch

1/17/2025
Fire Bros. from the PNW makes a fantastic Peanut Butter Crunch (PBC). I enjoyed their pre-roll tube of 2 x 0.5g joints. The greens (initial flavor at low temperature) were earthy with subtle fuel as it opened up into a surprisingly floral body. The pinene on the after-taste combines with the initial flavors forming something that can be considered peanut butter adjacent. However, the cultivar I tried could be renamed "Indian Street Food" because of how many amazing flavors of chai, curry, and cumin that I picked up. A true peanut butter taste in cannabis can be found by combining Gary Jealous and Fatso by SubX into a mixed salad joint or pipe.

Peanut Butter Souffle

I tried Artizen's pre-roll joints and say that IF YOU'RE TASTING "nutty, butter, chestnut" — YOU'RE SMOKING IT TOO HOT. The mouth is an overwhelming floral symphony. A very delicate rosewater-like flavor is balanced by the sweet dampness of a lily. The nose in the 0.5g x 2 tube was sweet almost like fruit. As the joint burned closer to the crutch, and my rips became hotter, the flash points of the terpenes were reached, and revealed the underlying terpenes like caryophyllene and limonene that persist in hotter temperatures. This is where the "chestnut" and "tobacco" flavors come forward.

Lemon Cherry Gelato

10/16/2024
Try a 1g pre-roll from SubX (Subdued Excitement based in WA) to experience a flavorful, rich smoke similar to Premiere's Wedding Cake, due to high β-caryophyllene content, and a fruity profile that earns its name. The limonene provides a lemon flavor whose citrus is sweetened by what they are calling "cherry." I assume the cherry flavor is a result of the sweetness found in β-caryophyllene mixed with the linalool terpene present. Gelato strains are known for their thick cake icing-like coat of trichomes. These buds burn low and slow and offer very dense, creamy smoke. I highly recommend this strain and similar varieties.

Wedding Cake

10/7/2024
A luxury and benchmark in cannabis history. Try Premiere's version in WA state. Dense buds are caught in spiders' webs of trichomes that coat the entire bud like a blanket of kudzu. It truly resembles the icing on the cake. I recommend a carbon fiber or other lightweight, moisture-wicking metal grinder. Flavors are strong vanilla cream, peppery menthol, and very subtle, sweet citrus akin to lemon and lime zest on dessert. Enjoy.

Chemdawg

Smokes a lot like Wedding Cake, except more gas in the flavor, thanks to the myrcene. I prefer Kush strains with more dominant Limonene, like aforementioned Wedding Cake, for more therapeutic and uplifting effects.

What's all the hype about? Do YOU want YOUR weed to smell and taste like a Sharpie? I've tried versions from K. Savage and similar; reminding me a bit of High Tide's Whistle Tip, this noxious, chemical-ridden nose and mouth will leave you wondering if the pheno hunters and scientists behind this strain have all jumped the shark. The versions I had were very high in THC and the terpenes left me with a kitchen sink of effects that didn't feel intentional or complimentary to one another, like young musicians in a garage band all doing their own thing at the same time. I call this "designer show-pony" weed. Will it be around in 20-30 years? Maybe. Will it be just as hyped? I doubt it. This is not everyday weed, nor do I believe its legend to survive the annals of time.
