Malawi reviews
I'm exploring this one, I did test deeply 2 phenos, first one is New Malawi Killer, this thing is a must-try for those with any digestive issue, no munchies, even could help to quit eating between hours, you will eat, but for some reason you don't think about it till your body really ask for it. The high is cerebral, the more potent thing I've come across in 40 years loving cannabis, you will feel some dizziness first, it would last few minutes but can be hard, so do it in a safe place, your sense of balance could be hard affected, specially if you mix it with alcohol, you'll be 100% wasted for hours, much better at least your first times to not mix with nothing and explore it for herself, if you mind the dosage and show respect, it will be the more potent and at the same time CLEAN high you could experiment, pure sativa game, euphoric, happy, ultra aware of your surroundings and your body, no coming down, the landing is first class TOP QUALITY, 4+ hours ride granted. Almost no smell while vaping/growing, it smells like lemon tree flowers, earthy and hash, but mainly lemon flowers, vaping/smoking smell and taste the same, while smoking smell much more hashy. The other pheno is my favorite, is more lemon and fruity smell while growing, is faster (from seed it could be ready in 120 days, you could give it more, but it gets so narcotic IMO), it can't support her owns flowers (at least main ones), they are huge, and not typical sativa "floofy" flowers, these have fair meat there, and it stacks nicely between nodes, you will feel it when grinding it. It hit as fast as it gets in your lungs, you feel first something back in your eyes (almost like an itchy/pressure), you will end identify it with the euphoric coming to you, is the more CLEAN thing I ever consumed, again, you can't mix it, you can't do anything dangerous under the effects, this thing is not for every day. I never felt something killing literally all bad/sad things from my head like that, it cut over all in seconds leaving you happy almost instant and last 4+ hours, with 150% of your brain available, and you feel like it was your mother taking care of you, while/after landing you are going to feel HAPPY, mind the dosage and explore it, is in a league of her own, I call it "Too good", you know... when is so good that turns dangerous (: For sure Malawi is a cannabinoids bomb, a must have for sativa lovers and medical research.
I HAVE FOUND MY STRAIN! I consider Malawi not so much a recreational herb as My Spiritual Ally From the Plant Kingdom.
Malawi is everything you hope cannabis will be. Music sounds good, food tastes great, your bodily senses come alive and ordinary routines like stretching, massaging your feet and washing your face feel AMAZING. At the same time, your mind sparkles with curiosity and clarity; my first time out I was able to absorb myself in a creative project that I had been putting off for a while because I just wasn’t “feeling it,” but which I now was able to connect with emotionally and aesthetically.
Malawi takes you to a place of 100% honesty with yourself — a place where you can look at your life without fear, shame or wishful thinking, and see clearly what improvements can be made. Malawi gives me the freedom of mind to dream big about my future, while at the same time giving me the clarity to plan, in zero-bullshit terms, how I can achieve those dreams. This is definitely a problem-solver’s strain (and probably also great for playing games of strategy like chess or go, if that's your thing.)
The odor of this flower is wild, strong, earthy, mythic. Definitely smells like something that would grow in Middle Earth, Wakanda or in the magical forest of Princess Mononoke. One whiff of it and you know your nose is plugging directly into some serious Ancient Vegetable Intelligence.
A very smooth, pleasant launch. While some strains might make you feel like you’ve been shot out of a cannon, Malawi lifts you up gently. After vaping a tiny amount, I felt like I was taking off in a solar-powered glider, easing out onto warm thermal updrafts lofting me up into a wide and welcoming blue sky.
Shortly thereafter I had a vision of a female pixie - who looked like young BernNadette Stanis, (the actor who played Thelma on the 70s sitcom Good Times, whom as a kid I had a celebrity crush on) dressed in an amazing green furry faery costume, fluttering around me on emerald green butterfly wings, urging me to smile and relax. And I certainly did! I was suffused with a sense of warm, happy arousal which, as a person living with Depression, I feel rarely, and was most welcome.
At the risk of sounding like a hippie cliche: I live in an apartment overlooking a park, and at a certain point around sunset I looked out at all the people jogging, strolling, walking their dogs, and I felt a crazy Walt Whitman-esque love for EVERYBODY. Cynics may snort at this, but if you’ve been there, you know what I’m talking about. The human brain contains many programs, and one of those programs is a feeling of familial love for ALL your fellow humans. You don’t need cannabis to launch this program, but if you’re stuck in day-to-day stress loops, it certainly helps.
Negatives: Cottonmouth comes on strong, so have some water or a tasty beverage close at hand. Your balance will be off so don’t try riding a bicycle or “bouldering” at the rock climbing gym.
Incredibly, this was $10 a gram (the lowest price point) at my local dispensary. I purchased a few other “top shelf” strains (Golden Goat, Holy Grail) for more than double the price, but they did not compare to this humble yet mighty Malawi. Apparently it’s not an easy flower to keep in stock, so if your local dispensary has it, do yourself a favor and snatch some up!
Top quality sativa landrace. The high is very heavy and wonderfully bliss filled. Energy. Fairly psychedelic. Using it to develop myown personal medical strain by crossing it with some other heavy hitters. Crosses very well with other plants, with wide genetic variability in the f1s for further refinement. My first f1s seem to be a bit more heady and less body. The f2s I have going now bred back to the father(purple sunset lilac diesel crossed with vanilla latte female), are exhibiting long stretch and flowering periods beyond the f1s despite being bred twice to a faster flowering strain. So expect odd things if used in a breeding project but with most of the f2s already being very similar with 1 out of five having any significant variations in structure ,growth patterns, flowering times etc. interesting strain to get to know and pull apart. I just smoked some of the f1 cross and my brain is focused and my body super light but I have no desire to move. Euphoria. Strong enough to stop my panic attacks and re center me to continue my day.
I provide commentary on the crosses in case it helps people when they come across them what they might expect as it is probably found in more crosses than in its original forms, or if they decide to use it in their own crosses.
Perfect old school weed. You know it's a sativa as soon as you feel it, because there's ZERO sleepy effect, to the point you can tell it's missing any indica at all. It's all the good qualities of a thc buzz without any sedation. A good energetic euphoric strain. Tried ACE seeds version. Good for social gathering or a good mind fuck movie.
I love this strain, it’s perfect Saturday get shit done strain. Great mood lifter without feeling on edge. Malawi sunrise out of Utah currently in my top 10, Sour diesel being at the top. I throw it in my humidor and keep it sticky.
I grew African Buzz (a special selection of Malawi Gold) and all I've got to say is... I really, really, really like this stuff. It grew easily. Had a mildew problem. This plant resisted better than any of the other strains growing. While flowering, the smell wasn't too strong, pretty easy to conceal if you just had one or two growing at home. It smelled like lemon Pledge and Bazooka Joe bubblegum... it's a weird combo, imagine smelling freshly cut lemongrass while chewing on that powdery pink gum you'd find in packs of hockey/baseball cards... that's very close. Not really my favourite smell but I can see how some would probably like this a lot.
Overall, probably among the best weed I've smoked. No skunk/cat pee smell in here at all. Very easy smell to conceal if you'd have to try. Very sativa effect after about 10 minutes what feels like nothing. At first, you don't feel very high... but it guilds and builds. I feel pressure behind the eyes and a dry mouth. Energized but also relaxed (not sleepy). This stuff actually does a good job waking you up... like espresso coffee. I do feel my heart beating kinda faster but it isn't bad at all and it eases-up after another 10 minutes. No paranoia. This stuff always brings me to a wonderful place. Makes me feel so empathetic, happy, a little silly, playful and giggly. There is lots of euphoria in this high... feels like I could burst out laughing if someone would do something silly. This stuff will put a grin on your face and it will leave you functional... but I know I probably couldn't drive while on this. People around you will probably notice you are high when you're on this magical stuff. This weed doesn't make me hungry nor does it make me horny HOWEVER I just know that things like eating would feel good... so would listening to music... dancing would feel quite nice when on this. As for sex, this stuff makes me feel sensual rather than horny. Yeah... makes you want to have that "tantric" sort of sex. Generally speaking... this stuff accentuates pleasure, whatever that pleasure may be.
One thing I wish this didn't do so well is destroy short-term memory. It's a very "having your keys in your hand while you're looking for them... all while forgetting what you were looking for in the first place" kinda weed. Amazing!!!
This has that earth smell that just screams "sativa" - like a desert sage, not sweet, like real sage carried on the desert wind. It's almost the primal ur-weed taste - you smell and you're like "yep, that's 100%, unmistakably grass." You either love that flavor profile or you don't; I do, and the aftertaste on the first hit of this stuff is just delicious. The high made me instantly alert in a pleasant way. It feels like it's medicating me in a very similar way to my actual ADHD meds; since it's a pure sativa I figured that might be the case. I wouldn't take both at the same time; might be fine but might be a recipe for anxiety. On its own this is a very clear-headed blissful and if I wasn't already pretty tired from a long day I'd probably fall into worldbuilding for a DnD game for a couple hours and have a ball doing it. After three hits there's a lovely clearing and expansion feeling in my skull and I could see this being very helpful for someone with hypertension headaches. Man this is tasty. Really gives me that old head nostalgia feel. This is a very pure strain on every level.
Review for the strain "Equanimity" (Strawberry Chunk {Strawberry Cough ♀ x Deep Chunk ♂} ♀ x Heirloom Malawi ♂):
I obtained a gram from Farma in Portland, OR. Tested at 29.7% THC. Grown "in house" by Newcleus, using "organic living soil" method.
I have had my eye on this strain for some time, as I am always eager to try landrace genetics. I expected this to be a sativa dominant strain, however I was surprised to find that Farma lists this as a "relaxing" (indica-dom) strain, based upon their system that classifies strains based upon their effect vs more traditional sativa/hybrid/indica categories.
This strain is phenomenal. I would describe this as a versatile day or nighttime indica. For its staggering potency, this strain is remarkably non-stupefying. I found myself clear-headed, while all anxiety melted away into a blissfully mellow, happy head space. Profound relaxation and physical ease is achieved without laziness or fatigue. The strain does carry the sativa-like ability to lift low spirits and obliterate depression, but without some of the more psychedelic/inside-your-head effects common to sativa strains, thus making conversation easy and not impacting short term memory and focus. Effects are fairly long-lived and there is no abrupt come-down/crash/burn-out.
I have depressive tendencies along with (to a lesser extent) anxious tendencies, and I find that these issues are best helped by sativa-dom and indica-dom strains, respectively. Few strains are able to tackle both these issues with equal effectiveness. Therefore, I tend to prefer the sativas, but I sometimes am looking for an indica to specifically target and melt away my anxiety. The problem is that in some instances indicas can take me too low and aggravate my depression or leave me feeling too tired, unmotivated, and too heavy to do anything but eat everything in sight and then pass out. For these reasons, I find the aptly named Equanimity to be the best "indica-dom" strain to mellow me out, ease anxiety, and lift my spirits. It's unique traits make it suitable to use anytime throughout the day (even morning). For me, I would not hesitate to use this strain before work, school, social activities, or exercise - it is perfect, but probably not the best strain if you're looking to put your brain on the frying pan or induce a mini-coma to combat insomnia.
I find the flavor/aroma fairly unremarkable, other than that it is an exceptionally smooth, pleasurable smoke. But it is a visually stunning flower, absolutely caked in glistening trichomes. Just beautiful.
I will definitely be heading back out to Farma to stock up on some more before it runs out.
Exceptional!
