Sour Kush reviews
Read people’s experiences with the cannabis strain Sour Kush.
First and foremost: I am reviewing a crumble of this flower. Having this as hash/extract likely added on a star to this review. It seems like the flower of this strain would be rather bleh and bland. Many reviews outside of leafly seem to indicate this.
I got a gram of cured crumble by PTS for 40.00 out of an Illinois dispo. This is a good price in this state so that influenced the purchase. You are essentially get around 4 grams of flower for 10 bucks a gram. I cannot wait for the day in which flower ends up around 5.00 a gram. If I could get something like this for 25-30 a gram I would purchase it regularly.
Where this one shines the most is the effects. It is the truest hybrid of OG and Sour D effects wise. You get some of the heady cerebral stone, especially at first. Sour D doesn't "couch lock" most, it "mind locks" them. The OG body buzz appears, especially later. The almost opiate like sense of content found in OG is present along with the euphoria of found in Sour Diesel. The thing is, neither of these are very prevalent over the other. This essentially turns it into a daytime indica. Everything is a dang daytime indica nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I like the Gelato and Cookies lines but miss the variety we saw in Cannabis effects that was present from the 70s to 2011ish. Overall people seem to focus more on taste then effects nowadays, both are important and influence each other. They need to be kept in balance.
Lower doses of the stuff tend to be more energetic of course and higher doses tend to be more sedating. Both of these strains have these features. Terp wise nothing really stands out. Maybe I am getting jaded after 20 years. Back in the day though I loved the "Deathstar" found on Phish tour which was run by a crew originally out of Ohio. They always claimed it was Sour D crossed with OG. They came out with a more interesting pheno.
Which brings me to my final point, I don't grow but I'd imagine there is a lot of potential in back crossing these strains. Likely lots of different phenos that lean one way or the other, but then again that kinda ruins the point of this hybrid.
This is one I would recommend for newbies for sure. Especially as an introduction to Sour Diesel. A lot of people get anxiety from that strain. If you cannot handle this strain you likely could not handle Sour D. This is also a very good social strain. Come to think of it, so was Deathstar.
Best for daytime activities.
Great stony weed. One of my favorites for sure. This is definitely a mighty herb and be warned: you will get the munchies. Has a great citrusy taste to it. -9/10-
Nice clean, pleasant high. Can go about my day with ease. I like it a lot
pleasant kush variation, sweet, pungent, thick flower geometry. Nice body high, pairs well with whatever is going on, not perfect but not bad, would happily roll into a joint
From Reef Dispensaries in Glendale AZ, Tryke Strains. taste was surprisingly subtle with no diesel taste or smell which was suspecting. it was more kush tasting but more of that cerebral diesel high. I really enjoyed this strain. this the type of strains I use during the afternoon time because it was mentally relaxing, good conversation or being at a party.
This is an awesome strain I have done multiple runs of now, both indoor (greenhouse) and outdoor.
Growing: In my experience this strain is pretty forgiving for amature growers. I have put it through it's paces by overheating, overfeeding, and some low to high stress training and I've never had a reaction that has killed the plant or severely affected my harvest, no herming either.
Overheating: In the same tent as Sour Diesel and Kosher Kush and it was the only plant to withstand the heat without getting bud rot. Both other strains were affected.
Overfeeding: in the same tent as Jack Herer, Jack started to show major signs of stress and slowed growth where as the Sour Kush didn't like it, but didn't display as bad of a reaction.
Watering: This plant likes to dry out between waterings in my experience, it doesn't seem to want to stay wet all the time, but that could depend on your growing medium. (I use promix which is primarily peat moss and perlite)
Downside: Only in my most recent run have I had issues with spider mites. In the same tent as Jack but only the Sour Kush seems to have the mite issue. leading me to believe that Jack is more resistant to pests in general or the differing terpene profile of Jack seems to no be as appealing to the mites.
All of this "data" is anecdotal as it's just my personal experience with this strain. Also all of this information refers to Greenhouse growing. I usually don't do too much for my outdoor plants, just the odd watering if it's been dry and no nutes.
As far as smoking it goes I smoked it exclusively for about 4 months. For about 1-2 hours after consuming I would be energetic and get lots of tasks from my to-do list done, then I would feel the sedating effects come into play and it turned to a very relaxing high.
what can I say about sour kush????? well when I got to my dealers house he told me this was what he had instead of my normal stuff so I bought 2 grams and went on my way that night sitting on my carport rolling my blunt I couldn't help but notice how sticky it was and how nice it smelled upon smoking it i noticed it was harsher than expected but not to bad every thing else was amazing when I wasn't glued to the couch i was dancing around my kitchen and living room with very happy vibes then after an hour or so I went to bed and got amazing restful sleep all around amazing strain and this will stay in my rotation
