Sunny D reviews
Read people’s experiences with the cannabis strain Sunny D.
Love this strain. Tastes good, hints of oranges, and super easy to smoke.
Had a preroll. Pretty good, tastes like classic weed to me.
I giggled a lot
best strain I've ever had. a buddy and I go to a bunch of different places in east Oregon and one had a special on top shelf and the staff recommended sunny d as a definite purchase. it did not disappoint, it literally tastes like sunny d the beverage in a way. it is a very uplifting, relaxing feeling that comes almost immediately. just imagine a strain where both staying in and relaxing and going out and socializing are good options. only drawback is dry mouth so get some water. buy as much as this as you can when you can find it
Got a gram free from my dispensary here in Chicago and figured I would give it a review. Smoked a bong of it yesterday and just finished the rest of it in a joint. This stuff is pretty high in Cannabinoids, clocking in at around 30% I need to note my tolerance is pretty high, I tend to lean towards concentrates but have been trying to stick and incorporate more flower in my routine which has been going well.
Anyways, I have the day off from work and am visiting my parents. Its a snowy, windy and cold day here in Chicago and I figured I'd medicate before doing some computer based errands. My main goal to finish is my taxes, which are not complex because I live a pretty simple life. If they were, I obviously wouldn't be medicating before doing forms.
This stuff was pretty old (talking months and months) and that showed. I have no doubt this stuff suffered some terp loss due to sitting on the shelves. Furthermore, I have never been a huge fan of Tangie, especially in flower and this is either a Tangie pheno or backcross? (Note parents are listed as just Tangie) I'd bet this does much better in Concentrates like most Tangie related cultivars.
Looks: Neon Green, Darker Fan Leaves, Orange Hairs, Smaller nugs, hard to ascertain original shape due to transport. I'd guess that large size buds have a typical tangie/sativa look to them. I am also assuming that in the right conditions this stuff would explode outside. The harvest date of this was August, so an outdoor grow is possible.
Kinda had a cookie like look but with more orange hairs. Dark leaves interwoven with lighter green buds. Overall, it kinda looks like a cross of old school with the neon green and orange and the new school with the darker cookie look. I don't know how else to describe it. On my instagram account, I had to ask for opinions.
Smell: Orange! Orange! Orange!
This stuff smells strongly of orange. I wouldn't be surprised if smell was a major key during the shifting process for this cut. It does almost have an artificial orange smell. This is a pretty popular smell in the Illinois market right now (lots of orange stuff) and as many know the concentrate market is saturated with tangie/orange related things. I personally am kinda sick of it and am more of an OG/Kush guy but hey this was free.
Taste: Disappointing due to muting of flavors. Smooth, Orange, Tangerine
So this sample was many months old and I could tell. With the waterpipe, the flavor transferred a bit more then the joint. Which kinda surprised me due to the dry hits on the joint being awesome. And herein lies the problem with tangie related strains (esp flower), the flavors just don't really pop. While smoking the joint, I would get occasional bursts of orange flavor but generally it was just an average yet smooth smoke. I am a big believer in the "entourage effect" (THC+CBD+Terps+unknown elements effects the high, not just THC) so taste is important.
Effects: Potent, focused, balanced. clear
Tangie tends to lean towards Sativa dominance and this strain appears to follow suit. That being said, the more and more we learn, the more we realize that Sativa v Indica are very broad and not very relevant.
Medical Effects: Helped alleviate some depression, was not anxiety provoking. Balanced and focus helped get me out of funk. Basically, I had to put my dog to sleep a few weeks ago and she lived at my parents house. Its still hard at times and coming home reminds me that she is gone. This made it a little easier.
I wasn't having PTSD or flashbacks, nor did I notice my insomnia, ADD or depression impacting me. Frankly, I had to let the effects set in first to realize that this strain is medically very good for me. Its very functional but also potent. It seems to have a nice mix of cannabinoids.
I might pick this one up again. Frankly, its at a 3.5ish rather then 4. I have a feeling if I got a fresher or better quality sample. I'd think this strain would also be a good work plant and wouldn't be surprised to see it become more popular in crosses down the line. Not that different from its parents.
Note: I am a qualifying medical patient whom is registered here in Illinois.
Chopped In Chicago
only rating 4 because I've had better strains but this is at the top. with a high tolerance I like to smoke joints that will get me feeling good and this did just that. good flavor and smooth smoke. 😄
this strain is to the tee on how it tastes an how it makes u feel if ur one to say u don't like sativa an need some thing new this Is one for u trust me u can't go wrong here
effect - slightly less racy, less "sharp,", more body buzzy than tangie. energized, elevated and tingly, still able to focus on work tasks. no paranoia though which is great. a little bit of anxiety, but again for me focusing on work helps with that fo sho.
nose - oranges, grapefruits, tangerines, limes, earth and some herb?
taste - the inverse of nose, citrusy earth. not bad, but not as fruit forward as the nose.
got this as a $60 half zip of popcorn nugs from a trusted grow. if i ever see this again will swoop again, super solid wake and bake - morning thru afternoon med.
