Dabber

(Julia Sumpter/Leafly)

A tool used to manipulate concentrates for dabbing. They often resemble dentistry tools and come in a variety of shapes and sizes—a common dabber will have a sharp point on one end and a flattened scoop on the other. Dab tools are usually made from glass or stainless steel.

“I like glass dabbers better than steel dabbers.”

How to use a dabber

A dabber is designed to get pieces of cannabis concentrate onto the red hot nail of a dab rig without burning yourself. Not all concentrates have the same consistency, so different dabbers are better for certain types of concentrates, and some dabbers have the ability to handle many different types.

For concentrates with a waxy or crumbly consistency, dabbers with a flattened end are ideal to scoop up concentrates. For sticky concentrates, try a dabber with a sharp point, which will minimize contact with the concentrate.

Benefits of a dabber

Safety and cleanliness are the biggest benefits of using a dabber. Nails are extremely hot when in use, and a dabber will keep you from burning yourself while placing concentrate on the nail.

Dabbers are also really great for handling concentrates. A little goes a long way when dabbing and a dabber will allow you to be very precise. With a dabber you can get the concentrate directly from its container, which is a lot cleaner than trying to use your finger.
