To my knowledge, there are two “Shark Shock” strains: Shark Shock and Shark Shock CBD. I’m reviewing Shark Shock (from the brand Hexo under the name Sierra). I adore this strain, but I didn’t want to like it! It seemed boring and less exotic than other strains currently available at the local SQDC. But... after a long T break, this strain is the ONLY strain that doesn’t make me completely break out into a full-body panic attack. Shark Shock is perfect. Absolutely perfect. It doesn’t have a strong taste, it’s relatively affordable, and makes me want to be cozy and social. I have extremely bad social anxiety and it can cause me to be a brooding ball of silence. This strain manages to break through all my anxiety! Best yet, I find I’ll smoke a little and not have a strong urge to binge smoke, which higher THC strains tend to do for me. If you’re looking for a good strain to pass around at a party, or if you want to sit at home with a friend and watch silly movies, this is that strain.

I use cannabis primarily for two reasons: it’s enjoyable and I have a weird blood condition that causes me intense but diffused pain. It’s unpleasant and hard to manage. Cannabis helps a lot with this (duh), but it can be hard to find a strain that relieves pain without necessarily knocking you out. Sour Kush somehow manages to balance the fun uplifting side with enough clarity of thought to make it perfect for daytime errands and hang outs with friends. It smells decently strong, and definitely sour. You can almost feel your mouth pucker after smelling this, it’s unbelievable. It also makes you feel creative, and stress free. I’m always impressed when I find a strain that manages to do both effectively but this is one. Expect obvious “high eyes” though. I found this strain in particular makes my upper lids turn into dumbbells, so if you’ll be around people you shouldn’t necessarily be high in front of... think twice.

I’ve learned to divide my favourite strains as “group appropriate vs best solo” and this strain definitely fits under the “group” category. I buy Hexo’s Sierra, which is a rebranded version of this strain. It’s got a nice amount of CBD, which feels like it helps ground this experience making it suitable for groups of all tolerance levels. My friends jokingly call it the “giggly weed” because it turns us all quite social and lighthearted. If you’re a seasoned toker looking to be wowed... definitely check elsewhere. This is going to be leaving you thinking, “wait that was it?”.
