Horses never forget, and I believe she remembers another time when she couldn't work, and she wound up having the traumatic experience of being abandoned at an auction. So I believe fear it will happen again is also causing her distress, although I spend almost as much time with her as I did before. They offered me an oat bar treat infused with CBD to try; and the difference was heartwarming. After a loading dose of two bars, I gave her one almost every day; and she seems so much more comfortable and at ease. This good horse gave everything she had when she was right, she never said "no"; I am so happy I found a way to soften the edges in her declining years.
