Cannabis that is rolled, wrapped, or stuffed into a paper made of tobacco. Blunts can be rolled from cigars emptied of tobacco or from blunt wraps, which are large, thick rolling papers made of tobacco. Blunts are usually bigger than joints, and hold one to three grams of cannabis.

“I got twisted off a blunt with a couple friends the other day.”

“I love how a blunt adds a slight buzz to my weed high.”

How to roll a blunt

Blunts can be rolled with either a blunt wrap or a cigar. Blunt wraps can be bought at most corner stores and come in a variety of flavors. They tend to be easier than using a cigar because they’re bigger and you don’t have to break them apart.

You can also use any cigar for a blunt, fancy or inexpensive. Cut or break the cigar lengthwise and discard the tobacco, or keep it intact and remove the tobacco by gently rolling it out.

To prepare the flower, use a grinder or break it apart by hand. Blunts can hold a lot of flower and many people choose to use a mix of several different strains.

Cigar wrappers can be brittle and difficult to work with, so it helps to moisten the wrapper before adding flower. If you are enjoying a blunt by yourself, you can use saliva to moisten it; if you are sharing, it’s best to use a small amount of water, applying it to the wrapper with a finger.

Once everything is prepared, add the ground weed, distribute it evenly across the wrapper, and roll it into shape. Once rolled, seal the blunt by licking the end. After the blunt is sealed, quickly run the flame of a lighter across it to “bake the blunt,” which will further ensure the blunt stays together.

If using an unbroken cigar, just fill it with ground weed and pack it in with the end of a pen or something else thin.

Pros and cons of blunts

People smoke blunts because they like the taste of tobacco or the flavors of a blunt wrap—they can be found in a variety of flavors, including cherry, blueberry, pineapple, grape, etc. The tobacco in a blunt also adds a buzziness and energy to your weed high. Also, because they’re big, blunts are great for sharing if you have a large group of people.

However, on the negative side, because blunts incorporate tobacco, they bring all the risks and health concerns with smoking cigarettes or consuming other tobacco products.
