A classic strain I recommend try at least once, tasty and one of the most "cannabish" flavor (just like what the plant smells like). Great taste for begginers.

Indica Dominant Hybrid - 65% Indica / 35% Sativa THC: 15% - 19%, CBD: 1%, CBN: 1% Skunk #1, also known as “#1” or simply as “Skunk," actually has less THC than its reputation might suggest: about 15-19% tops. But this remains one of the most famous strains of all time, born three decades ago in Holland, where breeders crossed multiple strains from South and Central America, Thailand, and Afghanistan. The result became a staple in itself and spawned countless hybrids containing its genes. True to its name, Skunk #1 smells decidedly skunky, while the taste is a mix of sour and earthy flavors. This is an indica-dominant strain (35:65 sativa/indica ratio) best used late in the day. Though it comes with a head buzz that belies its indica genes, Skunk #1 also provides deep-body relaxation. The head high is energetic and creative, while the body high is peaceful and soothing. It can be used to treat anxiety and other mental disorders, as well as chronic pain, headaches, and lack of appetite. This strain remains highly popular in Amsterdam, and though it can be found across the United States, it's mostly found on the West Coast, Arizona, and Colorado. Dry mouth is the most common problem associated with this strain, as well as paranoia and red eyes.

Although made widely available by Sacred Seeds, Skunk #1 got its name from its creator, Larry the Skunkman. The strain is 50% Colombian gold, 25% Alcopulco Gold, and 25% Afghani #1. This true breeding, stable strain was created in California, and brought to Amsterdam in 1977 by Larry. Being stable, there are no Phenotypes therefore no “Versions” of Skunk #1. Being so old and so widely regarded, only if you have a reputable source or start from a breeder seed pack will you know you are getting true Skunk #1. Sensi seed Bank and Dutch Passion still has the original available. The first variety I ever grew to harvest successfully, in 1996…

Skunk Weed was a blend of Indica, Ruderalis and Sativa. Ruderalis is only native to northern Russia it grows a single stock about 18” to 24” tall with one large tight bud on top. FYI: Pure Ruderalis seed is much larger than other strains. It is not a wild sub strain as some “experts” say it is. Ruderalis (20%) gave Skunk the heavy coleuses while Sativa (20%) lend the height of the plant 16’ to 18’ in a 9 month crop. Indica (60%) brought the odor & taste. The original THC was very high but we had no way to measure it in those days. The percentage was accomplished by cross breading with the original seeds. The first cross is Indica female + Ruderalis male. You can figure the crosses to reach the percentage above. In a pole frame greenhouse with 16’ walls produced 1lb per 12 sq ft floor space. This is fact anything else is crap! PBS
