Northern Lights reviews

So, my first time actually grinding up and smoking the infamous Northern Lights! For starters… my 3.5g package was a SINGLE NUG! This bad boy was massive, kief covered, jolly deep green GIANT! I’ve NEVER seen an 8th as one nug! In the grinder, it gets a touch cakey, but nothing too bad, but when handled with your fingers, it gets STICKY as all hell! Lemon, Earth and Pine smell! Strong, but no overpowering. We are off to a HELL of a pre-smoke start! It’s more earthy. I guess woodsy as well. You don’t really get the pepper that you’d expect with beta-caryophylene, but it’s a very muted, smooth smoke. Not too bad on the coughing, but there are a few after smoke coughs. Nothing crazy. Oh… WOW… I’m in the mountains…I’m in a cabin… with a big fire in the hearth. There’s a bear out there somewhere. He’s got him a fish, and a coka-cola. I gotta listen to some music. You should try something like “Stoners” by Berner and B-Real. Really oddly fits the mountain vibe. VERY heady peak high, as I’m sure you’ve already gathered, lol… The body high had me feeling at first like the Michelin man while I was hangin with my bear friend. Then it settles into a nice, warm, hoodie with you favorite jammies. Sipping you’re favorite cold weather beverage next to that awesome ass fire! Just a really cool head trip and then just incredible relaxation. It’s pretty velcroey throughout. Bowl couldn’t have been more than 80ish % full, smallish/standard bowl. Sizable but still not the WHOLE bowl. Also, Helvetia - Stoners has some trippy riffs... but it does kind of overstay it's welcome. Much like my review. NOT a beginner strain... But STILL try if you can!

It’s a very pine wood flavour, I ripped 9 cones with the boys came back in smashed some food and sat back, this bud is a very very relaxing high, it’s more of a body high not really a head high so it lets you think and have energy it peaked 30ish minutes after smoking and after the peak we had to go out for more, might just be ours but it’s a bit rough going down and the cough is like hell, but apart from that it’s good shit, only reason it’s not a 5 star is because I’ve had one better strain, northern lights is good in its purpose, if you get the chance or come past this pick it up you won’t regret it

So I'm enjoying the NL from Firelands in Ohio. I grew up in the 90's and Northern Lights was the most legendary strain of that era, it was a household strain name that everybody had heard of but virtually nobody had actually smoked it (in rural Ohio). But fast-forward to 2026 and I am loving the store-purchased NL, it's got a smell you don't see everyday: a really nice combination of pine, mint, and cinnamon with sage on the back end. Sage is a scent that I often encounter in terpinolene-dominant sativas but this is the first time I've encountered it in an indica. It's got a sweet and minty taste that I really savor, and the effects make it one of my favorite indicas I've ever smoked. It's a strong electric buzzing throughout my body, with tons of muscle relaxation; also has a cerebral stony side. And I get amazing sleep on the Northern Lights, I rate this 10/10 and it's up there with my favorite indicas, the Blueberries, Chems, and OGs.

MY ABSOLUTE FAV!! I have insomnia and chronic pain THIS HELPS SO MUCH. Whenever I smoke Northern Lights I always get super relaxed and my body gets so chilled out. It gets rid of my pain in my joins and muscles like basic painkillers wish they could. I get a nice body and head high and just melt into my bed—so prepare to be couch locked. It also helps so much with my appetite, I always get major munchies. My ADHD meds make my appetite dissapear and make me nauseous. I smoke this, I'm going to be davouring family sized chips and a whole box of cookies—maybe even a pint of ice cream if I smoked a lot. I'll snack and then just fall asleep like a baby. 10/10 reccomend this strain. Pure perfection.

This is a true nostalgic strain from the mid 70s. It’s like stepping back in time. Heavy notes of darkness.

Picked up an 1/8th of this from the company called Sunnyside because I'd never after 10yrs of smoking tried the famed Northern Lights and had this on my bucket list. I ended up with smalls in a regular container, nbd, the trim job wasn't the best but the buds were still tight (if not overly dried out....)....I still gave it a chance and lit a bowl of this up, immediately coughed out a lung for about 20 minutes, could not clear the tickle in my throat, chugged a ton of water, ate a spoonful of honey, gargled salt....I was so annoyed until the medicine hit. Wheeeeeeewwww. I had to sit down it was so beautiful. Touching, almost. Suddenly the shit trim job did not matter. At all. Neither did the extremely harsh smoke or coughing fit I had for a long time after. All I knew was I wanted nothing more than to smoke on this strain all day every day. This one sets me right every single time. And it is strong. Would not recommend for a beginner. Just picked up another 1/4 of this the other day, also from Sunnyside, and was extremely pleased to find I'd purchased high quality, dense, BIG nugs, they are so nice & frosty and break down beautifully, best of all they smoke waaaaay better than that first batch and I will say the medicine is STRONG. I had a little joint of these and three hours later I was still riding that high slowly down. Unbelievably nice weed. Hoping I can find it regularly available at my dispo because I do NOT want to miss out on having this in my medicine cabinet at all times. It's just so.....pretty. Beautiful. The experience is majestic. And I never wanna be without it. I can see, fully, why this strain is famed. There's just nothing wrong with it!! I can smoke some 3 hours before bed, have a dance party, clean my room, journal a little, have a snack, then wind down and fall asleep with a soft smile on my face. It's that good and the medicine lasts for so long. Thankful I've got this one around!!

It's a must try! I love how it relaxes me but keeps me interested. Eventually, if you are still smoking, you start to drift off to never never land. My go-to for pain and insomnia with a few more things tucked in.

If you need to be somewhere or feel rushed — like catching a train — it can create a bit of anxiety because the body high is so strong and grounding. Overall, it’s a very solid strain that does exactly what it’s known for: deep relaxation and serious couch‑lock, just make sure you’re on your couch and don’t need to be places.
