Low-temp dab

Dabbing done at a low temperature, which preserves terpenes and flavors more than when dabbing at a high temperature, which can burn up terpenes but usually produces a stronger high. Low-temp dabs are usually achieved through cold-start or reverse dabbing, in which concentrates are placed in a nail first and then heated. A dab at 450°F (232°C) or below is generally considered a low-temp dab.

“I keep my e-nail set to 425 because I like low-temp dabs.”

What is a low-temp dab?

Some dabbers prefer low-temp dabs because they preserve the flavor of concentrates more. Low-temp dabs don’t burn off terpenes and cannabinoids as much as dabs done at higher temperatures. Higher temperatures will decarboxylate more cannabinoids, including THC, and produce a stronger high. There is some debate over what technically constitutes a low-temp dab, but most consider anything under 450°F (232° C) to be a low-temp dab.

Low-temp dabs are usually achieved through cold-start or reverse dabbing, in which a concentrate is placed in a nail first, and then the nail is heated with a torch. Once the dab begins to melt or bubble, put on a carb cap and inhale.
