Recently obtained a 1/2 oz of landrace Panama Red flower from a black market California grower. When I heard that Panama Red was available, jumped in my car and drove 60 miles one way to obtain it. I was NOT disappointed. Having now been reacquainted with the Panama Red strain, it is one my favorites. What an unexpected trippy and speedy ride down memory lane. In this case, the legend of Panama Red is true! What a great lysergic strain. Euphoric and long lasting at 20 percent THC! In fact, the Panama Red strain effects were as I remembered - Speedy with no couch lock and no munchies. Panama Red has a tremendous creeper sativa high that keeps getting stronger and stronger. Music sounds great and you are energized!!. The taste is earthy with a strong tea and pepper after taste just like the original imported version. A strong trippy Sativa high results from a typical .5 gm bowl. Smoking another .5 gm bowl is almost incapacitating- The high will last for hours!. No tolerance or ceiling on this strain.

First time visiting a SoCal dispensary (2022). A great Sativa flower selection by Korova... Purchased two strains : Maui Waui and Hawaiian Sunrise (Korova). The Hawaiian Sunrise was exceptional - Combination of Kauai Electric and ???. After 3 hits , I was almost incapacitated due to its intense creeper sativa effects. High was borderline psychedelic (bright colors , synthesia) with no munchies at all - that is, high THC -V content. Still high after 8 hours!!! - Shulgin level 3 effects. Will be No tolerance cap on this strain. Surprisingly , one of the best domestic exotics I have ever smoked. 1/4 Oz was $80.00 - beautiful light green buds with amber hairs. Only the Hawaiian grown Maui Waui from 1978 was better - 5/5 effects, looks, and taste - true SoCal exotic!!! One thing to remember - Exceptional QUALITY is rarely on sale - I'm willing to pay for premium for an outstanding strain! Will be buying Korova Sativas again

First visit ever to an Ann Arbor / Michigan recreational dispensary. Visited on AM on New Year's Day (01/01/2020) - NO lines - very efficient - friendly staff ... Decent selection of flower despite heavy holiday demand. Purchased a couple grams of Citrix and SFV OG sativas. Unfortunately, could not purchase more due to an out of state return plane flight. Based on three sessions, quality for these two strains was above average and provided a very long lasting experience. Will return when I am back in the Ann Arbor area...

Yet another review of this under appreciated and widely unavailable strain. In 2018, I have enjoyed almost a full ounce of this strain and will continue to purchase it as long as it is available. It is simply better than ANY OTHER domestic strain. This strain is categorized as a hybrid but it is a strongly sativa strain. It is a cross between Maui Wowie and Pineapple Chunk - but the high is 90% Maui Wowie..Its Maui Wowie genetics predominate to an incredible extent; it was grown from authentic Maui Wowie seeds from Nahiku, Maui Hawaii. Having had the hall of fame original Maui Wowie in the late 1970s, I can vouch for its authentic Hawaiian heritage. Based in 50 + smoking sessions, one bowl of buds produces a soaring Sativa high of 6 - 8 + hours. The high is similar to the original Maui Wowie high - it is happy , trippy, psychedelic with vivid colors and audio distortion - It is also great in social situations and improves communication with loved ones. It is also enhances prayer to a fantastic extent - can feel the love of the Holy Spirit and of Jesus in a wonderful, overwhelming way. At the 2 bowl level, it is a borderline hallucinogen!!! You will be impossibly stoned quickly after 2-3 hits. I have smoked 3 bowls in a day (~ 2 grams) and was high for 12+ hours - well into the evening of the NEXT day!!! There is NO ceiling on the high even with repeated use!!! Not recommended for the novice or for those disliking a Sativa high.. The only negative is dry mouth. My rating is 10 stars + out of five stars All of my bud was West Coast .outdoor grown. If it is available in your area - run to your dispensary.and purchase - even at $100 per quarter oz..Worth every penny. It is a new strain - Had not tried this strain until December 2017. One of the strongest and best domestic strains ever..

Recently obtained a 1/4 OZ of Oregon grown Maui Pineapple Chunk. In general, I always prefer Sativa strains, especially the Hawaiian island varieties. This strain is a cross between Maui Wowie and Pineapple Chunk was grown in Oregon. After repeated smoke sessions, my highest compliments to the native Hawaiian growers who brought over the maui wowie seeds from Niahu. While the high is is slightly less spectacular than the original Maui wowie grown in volcanic soil, it definitely is one of the best 3 domestic (US grown) strains I have ever enjoyed!. My 1/4 oz was composed of only four buds with the largest bud at 4.5 grams !! Spectacular bag appeal with a tropical smell. The buds were outdoor grown and were light green in color with burgundy hairs and high amounts of trichrome coverage. I recommend this strain highly as I have been unable to smoke over 1.5+ bowls of buds in a session despite numerous attempts. The smoke tastes of citrus and pine and is somewhat harsh due to the high potency of the strain (20% + THC). The high is an intense Sativa high lasting over 6 hours; there are only some minor body effects as it is a hybrid. The high is soaring with a delightful quick onset after 2 hits. My buds were definitely descended from the genuine Mighty Maui Wowie from the 1970s which had a distinct unforgettable electric high, speedy , trippy, bright colors, and auditory distortion. There is NO ceiling on this strain - mellow, spiritual, and focused. My high was 90% maui wowie type high and 10% pineapple chunk. Brought back many memories and forgotten feelings. Should just be sold as Maui Wowie as the wonderful Maui Wowie high predominates to an unbelievable extent!! Call it Maui Electric . Not for the novice - it is intense- only got dry mouth. Takes a long time to wear off -colors were still bright and music was still wonderful the next morning. Run to the dispensary and buy this strain if it is available in your area. This bud retails for about $100 per quarter ounce and was a bargain even at this price. My rating is 6 stars out of five - top shelf all the way.

Inspired by RX420's review from 10 days ago... I must confirm all that was written about this strain review from Fall 2017. My experiences with this strain were just as intense and again shows the importance of terrior in evaluating / reviewing a landrace strain. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that he had the genuine article in the beautiful town of Montego Bay, Jamaica. My experience with this strain was also in Montego Bay, Jamaica but in the year of 1984. I was vacationing in Montego Bay , Jamaica with my native born Jamaican girlfriend. She was a Christian woman - not a Rastafarian - No offense intended. Her close friend obtained Top Shelf Lambs Bread . I obtained a full OZ of Lamb's Bread from the mountain town of Anchovy, Jamaica; paying about $50.00 per OZ in 1984. The large chocolate buds ( 2-3 grams per bud!!) had a few seeds but were covered in trichomes and were well cured. The smoke was pungent, earthy, herbal and slightly harsh. We had two 1.5 gram joints which we shared together. The intense sativa high for both of us lasted 6-8 hours and was very speedy, trippy, aphrodisiac, and spiritual The effects were profound - music sounded wonderful, verbal communication was also improved to the point of telepathy. Not appetite inducing at all and very speedy so that sleep was impossible for 1.5 days. Felt an intense , consuming love for others on both a spiritual and natural plane. Not mellow - Way too intense for the novice user, The 2 joints produced an intense, trippy sativa high that did not wear off until late in the afternoon the next day. What was unusual was that the high was impossibly strong but not out of control or anxious. Unfamiliar and ugly people could and would produce paranoia / anxiety. The only negative effects were red eyes and dry mouth. This is a wonderful landrace variety - consistently producing the same effects. Had a similar experience with imported, genuine lambs bread in 2009... In this case, believe the hype, get a passport, and journey to Jamaica. You will not be disappointed. One of my top 3 favorite strains - have not seen recently.

This is another review of the old landrace strains from the 1970s. I had forgotten about this strain until reading DJ Short's "Strains of Yesteryear" article. In the summer of 1978, I was fortunate to obtain a 1/2 ounce of black dagga from Central Africa (probably Congo or Central African Republic) from an African undergrad. It had purplish black buds and was almost seedless. It cost about $75.00 per 1/2 ounce in 1978. The buds were medium size (1 gram) and had a licorice / earthy taste and smell. Not the prettiest bud in appearance but one of the strongest I have ever smoked. One large bowl produced an intense Sativa high lasting 6 to 8 hours - as stated!!! This strain was both psychedelic and speedy - and reduced your appetite!!! It did produce dry mouth and extremely red eyes. A convenience store clerk even commented on my totally bloodshot eyes. This Sativa high is similar to the current Durban Poison but 10X as intense. Very introspective and great for hiking / walking and physical activities. Not good for talking or social situations / reading. Definitely not mellow but very, very stimulating and speedy. Thoughts were very racy and colors were intense. It was a hallucinogenic at the 3 bowl level. These effects were the same each of the 25+ times I smoked this bud. Only the genuine Maui Wowie was this strong!!! My estimate is 25 - 30% THC with incredible THCV content. Never had this weed after 1978. The only sativa product that was better was the famous one hit red honey oil from red lebanese hash. Do not turn down the landrace african strains when available.. In my personal cannabis hall of fame

I smoked the famous Columbian Gold strain numerous times from 1977 to 1980. It cost about $70 / Ounce and was a golden brown color. Most ounces were all medium sized buds (about 1,5 grams per bud) with few seeds. It was available widely until the drug war years. This bud came from the Santa Marta mountains of Columbia and was of high quality ~ 15% THC. It was not considered a top shelf strain (like maui waui , thai sticks, or hash). Because the price was low, I usually smoked 2 grams per session - equivalent to 2 joints. The high lasted about three - four hours and produced a heavy Sativa stone - similar to the current Haze strain. The high produced red eyes and cotton / dry mouth and caused couch lock after 3-4 hours. The high was neither speedy nor clear headed. Produced a profound aural / sonic disorientation so that familiar music sounded new and wonderful. Disrupted normal thinking - car keys were hard to find, phone numbers were forgotten, and tasks were never completed. Not particularly good for social occasions - stone was too heavy and introspective. Smoke from the buds was somewhat harsh. Will also be writing a review of the Columbian orange bud / red bud that had a very different flavor profile and high. Columbian Gold was a very good but not superb sativa. Probably as strong as many of the current strains but not as desirable as my preferred Panama Red - which was Top Shelf and was psychedelic. The high from Acapulco Gold / Panama Red was much more desirable than the Columbian varietals.

Obtained a 1/2 oz of Southern Oregon grown Acapulco Gold. The medium sized sticky buds were light green with yellow hairs and loaded with trichomes. In this case, the new strain from 2016 was better than the old school Acapulco Gold from the 1970s!! My bud was very potent !~ 28% THC, Sativa Dominant with an intense trippy happy high. The taste and high was similar to the 1970s version but better!!! Definitely longer lasting (5+ hours) than the 1970s Acapulco Gold. The hard to obtain 1970s version was grown in Guerrero Mexico and was completely gold in color - it had very few seeds. The high was psychedelic - vivid colors , sativa based and not as intense. However, it was a more enjoyable , social type of high - enhanced communication with friends. In addition, the taste was very smooth and earthy. Both versions were speedy, giggly, and happy. The old version provided a more functional high while the new version was intense, uplifting ,and spiritual. In summary, the new version had a high similar to the old version but was much more intense and overwhelming - it was wonderful. Would buy again ..

This review is about the legendary Chocolate Thai sticks from the 1977 to 1980 era. I obtained the genuine Thai sticks several times during this time period. At the time, three large thai sticks cost about $75, Each thai stick had about 3.5 grams of sensi flower bud with the chocolate flower tops tied to a small bamboo stick. The potency had to be 20+ % THC. Potency was outstanding and impressive. You simply could not smoke more than 1.5 bowls per day. The bud had an earthy pungent smell and was perfectly cured. The intense sativa high from .5 grams lasted about 5+ hours. It was neither speedy nor sleep inducing; great for walking and hiking The current strains available have a similar high but lack the intense quality of the genuine thai sticks. The high was dreamy, cerebral, and focused. Music sounded fantastic - I remember listening to Cream Live Volume 2 " White Room" repeatedly. The dreamy visual effects transported me to the Far East!!. This strain was highly coveted, hard to obtain, and disappeared after 1981....
