The 3rd Annual OMD Agency Mixer: Glitz, Glam, and Golden Guests

Lisa RoughLast updated July 28, 2020

Seattle-based agency Online Marijuana Design hosted its third annual OMD Agency Mixer at the swanky Columbia Tower Club last week. The event was a veritable banquet of big name players in the cannabis industry.

Guests were greeted with a spectacular golden sunset view from the Columbia Tower, the tallest skyscraper to grace the Seattle skyline, as well as a golden gift bag filled with goodies from the event’s various sponsors. The complimentary gifts ranged from vaporizer batteries to Seahawks stickers, although the event also included staff from Washington licensed producer Top Shelf Cannabis, who had samples on hand for sniffing purposes (although there were complimentary pre-rolls and two-gram bud packages that guests could take for later consumption).

The OMD Agency had event photographers on staff, as well as an official videographer and an interviewer who posed cannabis questions to the industry’s insiders. As the guest list read like a “Who’s who” of the cannabis industry, no one was safe from the camera lens. Cheryl Shuman, known as the “Martha Stewart of Marijuana,” answered questions about cannabis branding; Wes Abney, founder of such local cannabis magazines as Northwest Leaf, Oregon Leaf, and Alaska Leaf, was on hand to lend knowledge of local politics; Greg James of cannabis B2B magazine Marijuana Venture joined the event as part of the magazine’s recent two-year celebration; and the CEO of data intelligence company Headset (and founder of Leafly), Cy Scott, was also on the scene with fellow Headset founders and Leafly co-founders Brian Wansolich and Scott Vickers, to offer their insight on the latest cannabis market developments.

One of the more exciting guests was Josh Kaufman from LenitivLabs, the medical cannabis company founded by Montel Williams, who just announced that his new line of cannabis products will feature designs from the OMD Agency.

Some of the foremost cannabis shop owners in the Northwest were in attendance as well – Ian Eisenberg of Uncle Ike’s on Capitol Hill in Seattle, and Eric Gaston of the Evergreen Market were two of the more prominent business leaders representing the legal cannabis market.

Even members outside of the cannabis sphere were drawn to the glitz and glamour of the event. Miss Erin Cummins, former Miss USA and occasional cannabis consumer, attended the mixer, mingling with the elites in the industry, while a DJ flown in from Las Vegas exclusively for the party spun house music for the guests.

Leafly caught up with OMD Agency founder and CEO Jared Mirsky, who was pleased with the outcome of the event and has already received calls from many clients and guests who loved the experience.

“Being able to see a majority of our clients, strategic partners and prospective clients in one room was just an incredible feeling,” said Mirsky, comparing the company and its cannabis clients to a family. “It’s like having a family reunion. The circle that surrounds the M in our logo represents our circle of relationships…we hope to bring more brands and companies into our circle so that we may continue to grow our family.”

This is the third year in a row for the OMD Agency mixer and there’s no sign of slowing down for the cannabis agency, the cannabis industry, or the future of cannabis. Mirsky is planning to hold another annual mixer sooner rather than later, due to its popularity and success.

“Because of popular demand, we will be throwing these events twice a year rather than once a year,” and Mirsky assured Leafly that the parties will be “bigger and better every time!” Keep an eye out for upcoming event mixers, which promise to be a spectacular sensation and glamorous affair where industry insiders can rub elbows with elites in the legal cannabis sphere.
