Delaware is open for business: Here’s where to buy legal weed

Delaware, your day has finally come. Adult-use cannabis sales are officially open across the First State. It’s been a long road since legalization passed in 2023, but now Delaware joins the expanding club of states where adults 21 and older can legally buy cannabis.

Let’s be clear: This is a limited rollout, not a full-blown free-for-all. Sales are only happening at existing medical dispensaries that received conversion licenses. That means 13 shops, scattered from Wilmington to Rehoboth Beach, will be your go-to options for recreational cannabis today.

How to shop: A first-timer’s guide

New to cannabis retail? Here’s how to make your visit smooth and stress-free:

• Bring a valid ID: You must be 21 or older. Out-of-state licenses are OK.
• Bring cash: Most dispensaries don’t yet take cards. Some have on-site ATMs.
• Expect lines: Especially early in the day. Be cool, be kind, and be patient.
• Ask questions: Budtenders are here to help you navigate your options.

Most Delaware dispensaries will carry:

• Cannabis flower: ~$35–$45 per eighth
• Edibles: ~$18 per 100mg package
• Concentrates and rosin: $40–$60 per half-gram
• Pre-rolls, tinctures, vapes, and topicals will be available, though availability may vary

Purchase limits

Delaware adults may buy up to:

• 1 ounce of flower
• 12 grams of concentrate
• 750mg of THC in edibles

Medical vs. recreational

• Medical patients avoid the 15% recreational tax
• Medical users may have product priority or early access
• Same products for both, though medical menus may have a wider selection

Out-of-state shoppers are welcome (but know the law) Live in Maryland, Jersey, or Pennsylvania? You’re welcome to shop in Delaware—as long as you’re 21+ with valid ID. Just don’t transport cannabis across state lines, and no public consumption (that includes the beach, boardwalk, and parks).
