Jeff Sessions Asks Congress to End Medical Cannabis Protections

When President Donald Trump signed a $1.1 trillion spending bill last month, he seemed to scoff at a bipartisan provision that prevents the Justice Department from prosecuting state-legal medical cannabis. Now his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, wants to do away with the protection completely.

In a May 1 letter to congressional leaders, Sessions urged federal lawmakers to oppose the provision, known as the Rohrabacher–Blumenauer amendment. It’s yet another sign that, despite the president’s past support of medical marijuana, his administration appears to be planning a crackdown on state-legal cannabis.

“I believe it would be unwise for Congress to restrict the discretion of the Department to fund particular prosecutions, particularly in the midst of an historic drug epidemic and potentially long-term uptick in violent crime,” Sessions wrote in the letter.

“The Department,” he continued, “must be in a position to use all laws available to combat the transnational drug organizations and dangerous drug traffickers who threaten American lives.”

The letter, sent to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, was obtained by cannabis reporter and legalization advocate Tom Angell.

To justify his request, Sessions trots out a parade of prohibitionist talking points. He references the ongoing opioid epidemic, for example, but fails to note that states with legalized medical cannabis have seen opioid deaths decline by an average of 25%. He wrings his hands over “transnational drug organizations and dangerous traffickers,” but omits the fact that the Rohrabacher–Blumenauer amendment protects only state-legal cannabis actors.

And, for good measure, he notes that the DEA “concluded that ‘marijuana has a high potential for abuse, no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, and a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision’”—despite the growing body of research that suggests cannabis is safer and more effective than many Food and Drug Administration-approved pharmaceuticals.

The Rohrabacher–Blumenauer amendment, last renewed in April, is set to expire in September if not renewed by Congress.

  • I’d like to know why congress feels the need to war against its own people for which is according to wikipedia an act of high treason to war against ones own native country, and it is not moral to do so, and it is against the 10 commandments to kill and it is not what one would want others to do to themselves, and it bares false witness to others to tell of harms of a plant from heaven, so really warring is not the Christian thing to do either, and it is, lets face facts,, when people in hate groups in d.c. make laws against people and commit high treason, the way they have done since what 1947, and escalated by the terrorist known as Nixon, who was such a criminal, he was ousted out of his presidency, and yet, even though Nixon was a criminal, his terrorist thirst to go after poor people, and hippies, and blacks, and Jews, the laws nixon passed agaqinst cannabis consumers makes Nixon in my mind a true terrorist, and in his own country too, and so really if corruption is that deep folks, cause lets face it, we are all supposed to take part in society, not just the ones in secret clubs, come on, how can i share the beauty of the plant with others in a state filled with intolerant bigots bent on slavery, , with a war going on, i don’t dare even think of settling down, i really think the usa is not any more the desirable country to reside if it is going to be friendly with people who like to bully cannabis consumers, and that is not american to be bullies, and their kind has made people leave this country in droves which is why their is no more well, technology has something to do with it too in a good way, but too, but hmm, well i dont know what to say, only the doing the same thing over and over, and that is the tradition of war, and expecting war to give good results instead of bad is mentally impaired thinking, as it is cnc thinking, to where you kill your problems away, instead of doing right like you should and be more like 3d printers, where you add too a construct to achieve a desired result

  • yeah

  • a great dart board pic 🙂

    >“I believe it would be unwise for Congress to restrict the discretion of
    the Department to fund particular
    >prosecutions, particularly in the
midst of an historic drug epidemic and potentially long-term uptick in
violent crime,” Sessions wrote in the letter.

    So, back to reality.

    * Here we have Sessions claiming that the USA is in the midst of a big upswing in violent crime
    * In reality the US has *really* has been in a massive dip in violent crime (check for yourself)

    * Sessions wants to crack down on cannabis legality in the states (with claims it must be done to fight massive drug use)
    * Except that dangerous recreational drug use drops a lot when cannabis is legal. So does use by younger people. SO do opiod deaths. So does the suicide rate from mental health issues and from untreated pain. Cannabis is extremely inoffensive to the human body.

So of course (in an effort not be appear rational) Sessions is engaging in an old past-time commonly known as “lying”.

He is pandering to populist fears to try and make the government look “strong” in its fight against a myth. I have yet to understand how behaving like an irrational, illogical, dictatorial asshat (one with almost no relationship with the truth) makes one “strong”.

However propaganda is a basic step in fascism. In fascism the peopel stop looking for proof that things are factual, and rely on raw emotion. Their leaders use this bad choice for their own careers. They create fake propaganda enemies and trump up phony fears, and then claim to be the only thing capable of fixing those non-existent problems.

    – BUT – we still have Sessions, ranting away at everyone. My guess is that he is trying to appease the anti-drug conservatives with the standard “drugs are bad mkay” dialogue without mentioning STATES RIGHTS. One of the many groups in the Republican party that does not work or play well with others, is the group who keep pointing out that the federal government has no legal power to HAVE a criminal justice system at all. The constitution is very clear about the separation of powers. The constitution and its amendments never gave the federal government *any* police powers. They have no legal power restricting access to anything. The criminal code of the nation was supposed to be handled by each individual state, and those “50 states” were intended to be “nations states” (ie, 50 individual countries). None of the players seem to want to try and undo the mess created by 160 odd years of the US federal government pretending to have powers it doesn’t (assuming them into being).

And of course, when one has a way to solve so many problems… when there is a cheap substance that is causing a massive LOWERING of substance abuse & related deaths, and it also lowers peoples medical costs, makes their lives far more liveable, fixes brain damage, cures cancer, treats pain that is otherwise untreatable, and of course it cures the supposedly incurable … well then – – – they simply *must* stop people from having it! Or at least strut around angrily & pompously acting like they want to crack down on it – to fool the idiots who voted them in.

After all, being a stoic, angry, self righteous, scaremongering hate filled sack of shit does wonders for ones political career. Why stop just because people are dying?

    • Philip Cammarano

ty very well put and thought out!

  • La Oreja del Zumbador

    Sessions will destroy the US.

Prohibiting cannabis will lead to civil war.

    Do NOT play with fire.

    • Lastrealindian

Maybe not a civil war, but, all marijuana people should stand together! I am disgusted with governments because they are operated by ignorant, uneducated people. Maybe if old Jeff and Trump would just take a “little” time and educate themselves about the benefits of marijuana they would stop this shit.

    • Mick Malkemus

Sign me up if a civil war begins over this one.
For the marijuana side that is… just to be clear.

      • Killer Joe Coffee

I’m sure you will be stoned sitting on your couch looking at the walls!

    • Killer Joe Coffee

I had a guy turn down a great paying job I had offed him, coming from Texas. He decided to move to Arizona where dope is legal!

    • Paul

It won’t be much of a war when over 75% of people support it. Why the government is fighting against the people is good reason not to have big government.

    • Lastrealindian

Hello! Sessions does NOT have the ability mentally, or, the Authority to do shit. He will proceed with his job until President Trump tells him to back off. And, Trump can call this dog off if we can make him “UNDERSTAND” Medical Marijuana is truly a medication. My God, don’t most of what I call ‘my’ people of “like mind” understand any friggn real life on the ground politics??? We have an “Unweeducated” President! Hello! Nothing to do with good or bad, just ignorance of this subject which will affect all of us.

  • Legalize420

He is just closing his eyes to reality and making every decision based on his personal bias. The fact ANYONE supported this toad amazes me. He needs to leave this position, but even if he was to, he will make sure he gets as many asanine policies set up as possible so it will be very hard to undo them by the next AG. His policies and convoluted thinking is more dangerous than what any person could have put in their body to help themselves when there is no help. He’s just a plague to the people and a disgrace to his position.
He’s making a mockery of the AG position. His actions and statements are confusing and muddled and it’s not his job to try to control and dictate how we live our lives and what’s moral and what’s immoral. None of that is relevant.

I am personally never going to back down to him, and his thought process with an obsession against cannabis simply because secretly pharm companies give him money. He can’t not talk about cannabis and this kind of BS is what lead to the problems today surrounding the beneficial plant. He acts like him and only him has any inkling of what’s most important. Like the 100s of other people are all wrong for doing their jobs correctly. The last 8 years have had significant progress and thank you to everyone who voted trump and let sessions get into this spot he is not qualified for. Sessions out, common sense in.

  • usaok59

Either he’s senile or is in the pockets of Big Pharma. Doesn’t matter anyway, people who use pot are gonna keep on, there’s no stopping it. And I thought Sessions was going to be good for America! Ha.

    • freewheelinfranklin543

Big Pharma and Big Private Prison Industry. He renewed the contracts with the private prisons and now needs warm bodies to fulfill the contracts. That is what this is about…… money. The Private Prison Industry paid for Trump’s Inauguration and they want their big payoff. Another corrupt deal by the Trumpster and the Reefer Mad Elf.

      • Gary Craig

And the next Drug Czar, when his term expires, could be, none other than, Chris Christie. Unfortunately Sessions is not going anywhere. Now if Congress does their job it won’t matter what this southern red neck wants.

        • Daniel Ortega

Lots of drama and theater going on. Stay tuned!

      • Daniel Ortega

Spot on dude and I’m wondering how much the public will let this insane greed for money go on. We the people must make a stand, like Standing Rock against the oil pipeline, we must have solidarity and fight the demons that run the government. Peace out!

        • Mike Costello

unfortunately we can all see how Standing Rock went down …

          • Daniel Ortega

Standing Rock was a show of force and symbolic for things to come. Keep the faith that nature will win over greed.

      • Lastrealindian

You do not have a single fact to back up your lies! Why in the shit do people like you get on a conversation and begin to destroy our duly elected President with lies and innuendos, because of Obama and Hillary’s conclusion against America has brain washed most of the socialist/libs/communists.

        • Rob Woodside

Your “duly elected president” was elected by the electoral college and not the people. Trump is doing a good job of destroying his presidency while protecting his business interests and the adulation of his base.
What lies? Were the prison contracts renewed and who paid for his inauguration with the infinite crowds?

          • Lastrealindian

Now, you are pulling this “private prisons” out of your ass. Unless YOU have evidence, you are only lying. About “Big Pharma” you just may be right about the private prisons and contracts because “I” haven’t even given thought to this scary issue. Yes! Big Pharma.

    • “I thought Sessions was going to be good for America!” well, thank you for your voting for him, but looks like you are just now waking up. happy 420 while it lasts…

      • Bebo

No one voted for Sessions but, he was one of the few choices Trump had since everyone was against Trump at all costs. Naturally he supported the few that supported him. The best thing we can do is first write your representatives and make Trump think Sessions will cost him the reelection. Start filling Twitter with everything bad that Sessions does or has done.

        • Frank Cimino

That’s right and Trumps poll numbers are at their worst if he’s smart he goes against Sessions and fulfills his campaign promise to leave it to the states then we win and he comes out smelling like a rose especially with young people who can’t stand him …. It would be a smart political move for Trump

          • Daniel Ortega

Good observation to keep it green. Vote Hemp!

          • John David Wettergreen

You know—It’s bad enough that Trump is president, at least let us get high!

          • Bebo

He is now unable to get rid of Sessions because of the Russia investigation. Thanks Dems!

    • Legalize420

If u thought sessions would be good for America, long story short, you and many others supported him and the clown who is hopefully gonna be impeached. Despite obvious information and facts(do people check facts or think before they make a life altering decision anymore?) regarding his racist and “just say no” Regan era views and how/why he was denied in 1986, people still supported this imbecile. Where we are shows how much care is put into important decisions…

  • Daisy

They got alcohol, which is the original gateway drug in so may areas, back legal. There is the proof we must continue to fight! Mayb a email campaign geared toward POTUS! Backing up into the old shit serves nobody but private prison system…more bodies= more money!

  • @x

Once again the oligarchs from trumpland substitute fantasy for reality

    • Susan K Pierce

please, stop w/the goofy categorizing. medical use or recreational has nothing to do w/parties. sessions is from another era and refuses to be enlightened. there are plenty of people w/diversified views on weed and all other matters that affect our lives here in america. unity is necessary and we can agree big pharma is at the core of obstruction to the very real needs and desires of our people, both sides. basically they want people addicted to chemical pharmaceuticals, not curing anything but their bottom line. as conservatives, we want less governmental involvement in our daily lives. we want natural pain relievers, we see the corruption of the pharmaceutical companies and government entities (fda) holding hands, etc. please use your brain, stop the childish name calling, it serves no purpose.

      • Lastrealindian

        Susan, right on!

      • TheGuyWhoCares

The republican party doesn’t stand for any those things though. Why be “a conservative” in label, when you aren’t in life? Most people are happily in the middle – we want freedom and liberty for everyone, protection from evil, and prosperity for all. That’s not exclusive to Democrats or Republicans – but business interests have bastardized the democratic process. Saying you don’t want Government in your life is fine, but ALL Government out of ALL of your life? No roads except corporate roads you have to pay Microsoft to drive down, Amazon Police Forces for protection and maybe a Tesla Fire Station. All offered at a very reasonable price to those who can afford it. Those are all socialist ideas anyhow, I suppose if we can charge for them it will make it ok. We’ve backed ourselves into a pretty tight corner, giving corporations the same rights as humans without any of the responsibilities or consequences.

        • Phillip Andre

          Very True

  • Tommy O’Callaghan

And the greed and underhandedness of our now corrupt government just keeps on going…

  • KWB

All I can say to Mr. Sessions is that he is using Depression Era logic and knowledge of the time advocating that marijuana and her sister HEMP are class 1 addictive drugs when they are not…..which makes me wonder if he drinks alcoholic beverages, especially when it too was under the Prohibition Laws, as he looks old enough to have lived in those times and then some. Don’t you just love people who shade the evidence in order to get their own way….logical or not?

    • Tommy O’Callaghan

I seriously doubt he was living during prohibition…unless hes a zombie

      • lovingc

Sessionss was born in ’47 by my calculations. just a little bit past prohibition times. He is just evil and ignorant!

        • Gary Cooper

Yes! I , agree he eyes are pointed one up one out. The devils servant. Can you see he a freak. Very ugly. Jeffrey wants to force his Will on us all.Gary Cooper.

          • Lastrealindian

Wow! Evil? I don’t believe so. He believes he is actually helping people by getting marijuana users and growers. That’s the only way to help the Drug Cartels. America grows the finest marijuana in the entire world! This President and AG needs to be “Weeducated”. I believe that everything would change for the better for all of us. These folks are just plain “outdated” on the subject of marijuana. They honestly believe that the marijuana plant is Evil!!! Sad.

        • HappySmoke Hancho

Sessions was never born…he crawled out of a tar pit somewhere

    • freewheelinfranklin543

Too my intense disgust I think he is a boomer like me.

      • Gary Craig

        I think Sessions is 70.

        • HappySmoke Hancho

Really? I think he’s a big fat ZERO! but, as they say “there’s no prick like an old prick!”

  • CannabisStockPicks

Dump Sessions! Shared this on our facebook page.

    • Rob Woodside

If Sessions goes Trump will just replace him with another ignorant racist. We need regime change!!!

      • Lastrealindian

Racist? You are a “drive-by” rat!

        • John David Wettergreen

Sessions is racist. He was turned down for a position in 1986 for racist remarks. He was also a big supporter of Nancy Reagan’s “Just say no” program. While her husband was trading arms for cocaine to countries in South America.

      • Gary Craig

        With Pence!?! Oh God, NO!!

  • freewheelinfranklin543

It is rather amazing what you people censor here. I don’t think I will put you up on social media any more unless my comments stay up!

To all you brain addled hippie wannabees extolling the health benefits of marijuana,

OK, throw me some insults, if you can remember any. I can take it. Life has been good to me since I found something better to do with mine than sit around destroying my lungs and ambition, and saying stupid things that everyone else but me thinks are really, really dumb.

    • Mike Oxlong

Let me start the deconstruction of your bullshit .Hmmm…fat…Since I started puffing 8 years ago to relieve the pain caused by years of

I’m a wrestler (like Rob Van Dam, another puffer) Call me lazy? I’ll invite you to come join me in the ring inside a steel cage to see just how lazy I am. Your rhetoric is such bullshit that I’m thinking of quoting you to my plants just for the free fertilizer.

Hey asshole why don’t you stop popping your pills and stop being a fool. Marijuana has proven to kick the living shit out of cancer and multiple other symptoms that pills increase. By the way fat and lazy? Dude I know so many security guards who are in shape and have there lives together. You are obviously trying to get attention and you got it lol go cry to your mom about how marijuana hurts people stuck in the boondocks and shit come the future where us potheads are actually living in ya fuckin punk bitch

The only thing that makes sense to people like you is what YOU think! Its called being an opinionated asshole but U already know that!

    • Matthew Burman

First of all, there is absolutely no evidence that marijuana is in any way “destroying” any part of your body. There is, however, plenty of evidence that supports the fact that it restores parts of your body…. fat, dumb and happy faster? Since I started smoking I have lost 80 lbs… I’m also on my way to being a manager where I work… I’m also likely more intelligent than anyone you know… as for happy… far from it. I have to rely on “traditional” opiate treatment for chronic pain and my medical expenses ensure that I am far from happy.

      • Vo_Reason

The only thing that marijuana restores is your d!ck, for a while anyway. In about 20 years, it won’t even do that. BTW, the weight loss is probably because you are heading toward lung and liver damage.

        • Matthew Burman

In your 80s and still so horribly miseducated and misinformed. Sad really. Should I pray to your God for you?

        • Matthew Burman

Yeah, you might be right…. deffinately couldn’t have lost the weight because I became highly motivated and took control of my calorie intake combined with regular exercise…. hmm… what could have changed that made me suddenly motivated and ambitious? Could it have been that for the first time in 20 years I had a way to control my pain without all the terrible side effects of prescription pain killers? Could it be that after years at a neurologist, a ct scan, an MRI, physical therapy, cortisone injections, all combined with over 30 different prescription drugs specifically for migraine, that I found relief that didn’t profit anyone else? Naw… couldn’t be…

        • Matthew Burman

On top of all of this, you are so hung up on misinformation about the subject matter that you are failing to see how any of this might effect you. Not that you have much life left to effect if you really are in your 80s…. makes it seem like you just want to cause as much misery as you can before Satan gets his hooves on ya… I digress. Point being, this is a first step in removing a state’s right to govern it’s self… I seem to remember them signing a document about that…. I mean, you probably know better than founding fathers and medical doctors.

        • HappySmoke Hancho

if weed restores your dick how much did U smoke to turn into such a little prick?

        • HappySmoke Hancho

If weed restores your dick how much did U have to smoke to become such a little P&*%CK?

        • christopher rose

          Wow ….You sound like Jeff’s catcher boyfriend….
Almost every night I take a half a hit of Indica for a good nights sleep….costs me $30 a year.
You have no idea what your talking about.

    • calik

Did you write that crap while sipping your beer? What I choose to smoke or drink, for that matter, is my damn business and at 60 years old I don’t need advice nor criticism from some wannabee warrior behind the keyboard.. so my message to you is the same to Sessions…STUFF YOU!

      • Vo_Reason

You are absolutely right. It’s none of my damn business. You can kid yourself into thinking that there’s an upside to your lifestyle. I don’t want to have any impact on your self destruction. I’m just expressing an opinion. I have a right to do that, don’t i? BTW, I don’t smoke or drink, I’m in my 80’s and I can run circles around your a$$.

        • calik

You know nothing of my life style..expressing an opinion and calling people “brain addled hippie wannabees” are two different things… if you choose not to smoke or drink –good for you… but if I choose to smoke a bit of cannabis to help me sleep, that is my RIGHT.. and if you’re an 8o year old man telling a 60 year old woman that you can “run circles around my ass” YOU SIR – failed to grow up..
enjoy the rest of your life..

        • Mike Costello

Can you? You’re hiding behind a monitor. Your opinion is noted. When I get to my 80s I hope I don’t have to make myself feel good by wheeling my chair up to the computer desk and telling people I don’t know that I can run circles around their a$$es. Have a little dignity. My wife has managed to stave off the effects of fibromyalgia and MS with CBD – exclusively! They were sticking Fentanyl patches on her like flypaper and she always felt sick. All of that is gone, she’s getting relief with a natural product that you scoff at. I’m pretty sure “stuff you” would not be my greeting if I ever met your sorry self somewhere.

          • Vo_Reason

I think that the Big Pharma lobbies are up and running again . (Cause their missing out on alot of $$$$) been using it for my ms for more than 4years now and ain’t going paranoid yet 😉
Maybe ban cigarettes and alcohol and junk food (all which are approved by FDA) . And the bodies keep piling up cause of it.
Wake up and smell the medicine 😉

    • SandyLester

Big pharma has discovered 120 drugs that could be replaced by cannabis. Their push is legalize cannibud. Israel has ten studies going on now about replacing nearly all drugs. Venezuela is shipping cannibus to other countries for medical use.
Sessions is obsessed with cannibus, it’s pathological.

    • Bluesabound

Yes, who has the MOST to gain from this move! Since I’ve obtained a medical card ( major injuries from an assault) My Dr.s are weening me off of some of the Highly Addictive pharm drugs I’ve been prescribed. I’m losing weight and have much more energy and less pain since I’ve been using MEDICAL THC and CBD’s. Thank God in all his greatness for giving us the plant.

      • Gary Craig

I truly wish all in this “land of the Free? had the same opportunity. Unfortunately, depending on the state lived in, they/we do not. Many of us are still dependent on the toxic drugs from Big Pharma. That would include me.

    • Phillip Andre

So True Mr Arvanitakis, So Damm true

  • Keifus~

  • calik

Hey Sessions..from me and Cali……STUFF YOU!

  • Moe

The real reason why the government has been fighting marijuana is neither about the medical, industry, and economy benefits…nor about big pharma. After smoking a shit load I noticed something weird, marijuana wasn’t making me paranoid and psychosis isn’t real just like a bunch of other “mental issues” I was able to read peoples minds , feelings and actions with marijuana. It raises your souls spiritual level and lifts you to a higher dimension which is where the word “High” originally came from. Do not let the governments fool you =]

  • metalguy

    Thanks TRUMP Tards

  • Vo_Reason

I’ve never met a drug addict that didn’t start with weed, and I’ve met quite a few.

    • HappySmoke Hancho

Not only do I believe U have met a lot of addicts I think U are one. After reading your comments its obvious you are addicted to faulty thinking and ignorance! You should seek help.

  • Citizen Quasar

Thomas Jefferson takes a long deep hit off the joint, exhales, hands it to George Washington, and says, “Imagine that.”

  • Now this is a man who displays an utter mastery of science! Look, he knows more than 10,000 years of documented data about a plant whose toxicity level is, if measurable, so high (heh) it would be IMPOSSIBLE for one individual to consume that amount. Yet alcohol and nicotine and caffeine and every pharmaceutical drug you’re prescribed is fine! Not toxic, not harmful, no side effects and only medicinal, non-addictive, non-deadly life saving qualities. Because we’re all about that “care” in healthcare here in this lovely nation. I used to not be vindictive, but this is so ridiculous and such a load of shit I actually DO hope that he, his cronies – god forbid a loved one actually find themselves in decades of bed-ridden chemotherapies with no alternatives to pain care except that nice opiate addiction y’all gave me. Nice way to kill off those of us whose money and taxes you took and gave to what – a death machine in the longest war in our history? Vengeance is ugly, but boy do I feel vengeful at this shit. To have come so far medically only to have everything threatened day after day? Not to mention what they didn’t do to my Vietnam Vet husband I buried in February after 51 years of horrific medical problems – 100% combat related and disabled – but no no, it couldn’t possibly have been Agent Orange or the lies of the criminals that have called themselves “leadership” and are now at least finally openly mockable and can be cursed. It’s not much evolution, but it does let off steam.

Stay free people. Let’s hope there’s a special place in hell for criminals of this caliber.

  • julius

    Sessions should retire, he’s what 80 ??

  • Ragin Rawzi

So what are they going to do raid 2/3’s of the states in the union ? Or just go after the patients who they know own guns so they can get you on that too

    • Lastrealindian

Ragin, you are correct! Why in the Hell doesn’t the damn governments have to be in our homes? I will use any damn thing I wish, marijuana, guns… a lot of guns! I love target shooting with pistols and rifles both.

    • Lastrealindian

What we do is just keep on keeping on with our lives. I refuse to allow any government entity to force me to stop marijuana. We “all” were black market buyers at one time, but, now our own growers have surpassed any and all South American/Mexican marijuana. Just keep on keeping on buying American Marijuana. I will.

      • Gary Craig

I know not where to purchase any, so for me the Black Market isn’t an option. By the way I live in a supposed “mmj” state, with no dispensaries anywhere. That’s because there are no dispensaries, open or closed.

  • Edward Schlumpberger

now a convicted felon for growing in the basement ,6 two ft.plants, good bye guns, job and home…

    • Nancy Levy

      ridiculous! insane!

    • Michael Bradbury

No. This too shall pass. It feels like the end of the world, but it isn’t. You will still own a home if that’s what you desire. Felonies can be reduced, etc etc
Been there. Felt that. Fortunately it’s not all true.

    • Antoin Novy

I spent 18 1/2 years in federal prison for growing 68 marijuana plants (which were only seedlings at time of bust,…and not illegal…[seedlings]) I did time anyway and look at Sessions as a step back in time. The entire country/public opinion/times have changed. It’s not a big threat(and never has been) but the “machine” doesn’t want it legal. Too many lawyers, judges, bondsmen, attorney generals, guards, etc will suffer or lose their job security if pot is legal. It’s a shame but that’s the reality. Let’s hope truth will triumph as well as public opinion. People need to express your opinion. Either that or fontime for something people want/need/enjoy and have right to that. Otherwise, people will do time like me and sacrifice future, family, career, freedom, like I did for 18 1/2 years. Let’s get Sessions out of there. He’s too retro in thinking. I just hope one day justice will compensate me and others for sacrificing life for the cause.

      • Phillip Andre

I can’t believe they took you away for only 68 plant’s,You did 18 1/2, I’m so you happy you home god bless you man….

        • Antoin Novy

Thank you. God bless people with intelligence to understand what is truth and what is real. Marijuana is not something to be persecuted for, yet it has happened. People’s beliefs in marijuana are not something to be imprisoned for. Not any more than some one being imprisoned for believing in their religion. Marijuana I have always believed is a useful, beneficial plant. Unfortunately Sessions believes otherwise. So do we go back to putting people in prison for marijuana? I hope not.

      • justafish

Somehow I don’t think you’re telling us the whole story. Nobody spends that much time just for growing 68 plants. There must have been a history of distribution or intent to distribute or some other criminal element to your sentencing and time served. I am not saying 18.5 years is right, it sounds pretty wrong actually, but just please be straight up about why so we can all make informed decisions about what’s going on.

        • Antoin Novy

I live in Oklahoma where it has been one of the worst backward states to be convicted of a drug crime. I had two state charge of possession of marijuana charge from 1972 which made me a career offender when I was convicted by the Feds in 1989 under the career offender act of the federal statutes. In 1989 it was during the peak of insanity of the drug wars and lock em up for drugs and throw away the key mentality. It has laxed somewhat but back then, getting charged and convicted for drugs was serious business. Marijuana charges were just another drug charge and regardless of circumstances fed the drug war machine with another criminal(victim) of the war on drugs. Maybe you don’t believe how serious it was. Maybe you don’t really realize how serious the war on drugs has been. People serving time (18 1/2 years) for marijuana is just ridiculous. I didn’t kill anyone. I didn’t have but 68 (seedlings) plants. Hell, some people who were convicted for boatloads of pot got less time than me. I got so much time because I had a previous state pot conviction which qualified me as a “career offender” for marijuana. My whole life was changed simply because of my love for marijuana. Was it right to take my life away? Was it cool that the war on drugs has victimized me and others for marijuana? You think under any circumstance it’s cool to put marijuana offenders in prison and take away their lives? Is this just? Is this something you don’t question as cruel and unusual punishment? People like you just laugh it off as a lie or unbelievable or cop a skeptical attitude but you can believe that the history of the war on drugs is rooted in an archaic time when marijuana offenders were treated very harshly under the law for something that now days is legal. People just laugh and can’t believe me when I tell them I sacrificed a portion of my life for marijuana. Yes it is unbelievable. Yes it is unjust. Yes it did happen. Yes my life was changed forever. Yes I still believe in marijuana. Yes you can believe or not believe things like this happened. I don’t care what your opinion is. I just know what happened to me is wrong and Sessions reminds me of every prosecutor that fought the war on drugs at the time I was convicted and he is a step back in time and a dinasaur from the highlight of the war on drugs. He is out of place in our time. Just looking at him and hearing him speak reeks of the war on drugs mentality that I was persecuted under.
You believe what you want, but your skeptical opinion is offensive and naive. People used to use chastity belts to prevent sex like people used long prison terms to prevent marijuana use. It didn’t prevent anything.
For your information, whether I had thousands of convictions for marijuana or just one, it is just not right. To put a person in prison for marijuana is laughable now days I agree. But I don’t laugh much at my memory of a time when our society passively allowed it to happen. Future generations of marijuana users won’t care. It’s just a story of archaic times in the history of backward prohibition. People served time for bootlegging and using alcohol. You ever hear any stories these days about that history? Laughable as you sit there and drink a beer or mixed drink huh? Times change and history is a colorful backdrop to what life is like today. Sessions needs to stay back in time and not try to resurrect the past. To me, he is a ghost of the drug war past. A reminder to me of my negative history of my experience with marijuana. Under his thinking, I can go back to prison for another 18 1/2 years if convicted. That is a step back in time in my opinion. Again, my point is, a day in prison or 18 1/2 years for a marijuana conviction is just plain archaic and backwards in human thinking/evolution. It has been wrong in the past and is still wrong today. I live with that concept every day of my life. I don’t let peoples skepticism like yours bother me though. Just like doing time for something I enjoy and believe in didn’t deter me, your skepticism doesn’t affect me either. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

          • Lastrealindian

            Yes.

      • John David Wettergreen

Your sentence was very unjust Antoin. 181/2 years for 68 seedlings, that is so wrong. Glad it’s behind you & I too hope Sessions is out of office soon.

        • Antoin Novy

History is the past. I live in the here and now. I’m just glad to be in a time when people’s opinion of marijuana is intelligent instead of ignorant. I often thought while I was doing time that I should have killed someone because I would have served less time. But that is the price I paid for believing in marijuana. Sessions is a flashback to times when people were very ignorant of marijuana. Thank god generations of intelligent thinkers have brought us to a point in time where marijuana is considered as beneficial instead of criminal. Unfortunately, Sessions is not one of those. Thank you for your opinion.

        • Antoin Novy

          I agree.

      • RevJack

I am so sorry you have undergone an amount of suffering that I can scarcely imagine. I admire that you have kept your intelligence and humanity. I am not sure I could even survive 18 1/2 years in federal prison much less hold it together. And this could have and still might happen to any one of us unless this brutal system and it’s organizers are taken down.

        • Antoin Novy

Thank you for your reply. It was an ordeal but what doesn’t kill you,…only makes you stronger. I regret my life was changed into one not of my liking but I made the best of it and have no bad feelings that conflict with my outlook on life. I still believe in decriminalization at the least. It did not deter my thinking about marijuana as a blessed plant. But I am impatient with viewpoints that are just based on ignorance. I would hope as a leading civilization in the world that we would progress to a level of appreciation for all that cannabis has to offer humankind. Like anything else, cannabis can be and is abused. It’s only par for the course as humans tend to overindulge in what they over like or love too much to the point of abuse. It should not be a violation of law and should be treated in a humane way instead of lock em up and throw away the key as I have experienced. God bless us all and let’s move forward.

  • Bellatrix76

Sessions stance on cannabis is a conflict f interest, as he stands to financially from his investments in the private-prison system.

And note how all the rhetoric about states rights goes out the window when it comes to weed.

    • Christopher Barker

Conflict of interest?? In this administration? The whole damn cabinet is tainted. WE the people have spoken by voting and Medical Marijuana PASSED in case you did not notice. If you had not worded the way it was worded the PEOPLE would have passed legalization. This so called drug/plant is much safer than alcohol, pain pills, muscle relaxers, nerve pills my gosh no wonder you do not want to legalize BIG PHARMA would take a substantial loss in dollars and we all know that is what this is about. I know and have known many people that use marijuana and most would be shocked or appalled at finding out the individual smoked. Great career jobs, hard workers family people and most God fearing people. Just sad our government can’t seem to do right thing.

Explain to me how locally grown marijuana gives money to the cartels.

    • Colin Williams

Generally it doesn’t. Sessions was citing ONE incident in Colorado. There is always someone trying to take advantage of a system to break the rules but that’s why that person was found out and prosecuted. Just as the Rohrabacher–Blumenauer amendment states: if someone is found in violation of state laws, as this person was, then the federal government may prosecute. So I don’t see how that could even be an argument.

      • Frank Cimino

They are shipping it out to other cities where marijuana is illegal how about if Marijuana was legal in the whole country just like alcohol then their is no need to illegally ship it Duh mr Sessions. Make it cheap enough like alcohol and cigarettes and there ends the black market !!!!!!

The bottom line for Sessions, and other anti-pot folks, is control. Above everything else, these anal-retentives live for the thrill of controlling others. All the “Thou shalt not…..” laws, rules and regulations are designed for control. So is the private prison system, which rumors say contributes mucho dinero to Sessions. When things get puzzling, just look for who is seeking control.

Just saw this headline on the Onion News: “FDA Confirms Psilocybin Reduces Risk Of Mindlessly Following Society’s Rules Like F***ing Lemming”. Same thing here… control, or loss of it.

        • justafish

Cigarettes are not cheap. In fact, they are practically criminal thanks to left-leaning health concerns. If the same logic were applied to marijuana, marijuana would not be celebrated as a healthy recreational drug. It would be condemned as an evil right wing plot to destroy Americans’ health.

          • how so, so since cannabis is not a radioactive substance like tobacco is, which contains polonium 210, which causes cancers through the tars, i sure would never toke tars of tobacco, the way i would cannabis.
You know they use tobacco to kill bugs, as it is an insecticide, so yeah there is a difference, as i have observed first hand cannabis promoting a smile induced day, unlike the rage inducing tobacco products

          • Ryan Adams

Yes cigarettes are very expensive. And yes they are extremely damaging to your health and to our youth. But legalizing it would not have the results that you’re saying it would. Why would people have to celebrate it or condemn the legalization. Legalizing cannabis has more pros than cons any day of the week. Assuming people are plotting to destroy our health is very immature and irresponsible to say. Let’s stick with the facts.

          • justafish

I don’t assume anyone is plotting to destroy anyone’s health.

I do think there is a double standard in some peoples’ minds when comparing cigarettes to marijuana. It’s selectivity bias. When marijuana is discussed, some people have this romantic notion that it’s a beautiful herb that can do no wrong. But when you look at the numbers they are worse in terms of lung cancer than cigarettes.

          • randolini

That sir, is a huge lie. A Dr. Donald Tashkin got permission and cannabis from the government to prove once and for all that cannabis caused cancer. It was a 20 year study with over 2000 people. One dude smoked 22,000 joints over the 20 yr. period. At the end of the study it was proved that marijuana did not cause cancer and as a side note, it was possible that it was a lung protectent to cigarette smokers. This information is readily available and you sir, should find it and read it so you can stop lying to people as uneducated about this plant as you are. There has never been one single death attributed to Cannabis in history(more than 5000+ years). I saw the study first in my local newspaper.

          • justafish

You just bungled your own credibility by calling me a liar.

If you believe you have some better information, I am always open to considering that.

But don’t start with ad hominem attack. Start with a counter proposal of evidence please.

            Thank you.

          • randolini

God made this Plant. I gave you the name of the man who did this 20 yr. study, but did you look it up? No, you just come back with opinions and assumptions and now we find out you don’t even use Cannabis. Everybody who smokes Cannabis knows there has never been a death directly related to the plant. Even a DEA law judge has stated that you would have to smoke over 1000+ lbs. in 10 min. to overdose. No sir, this plant does not cause cancer. I think it’s time you educated yourself on the real reasons we have a drug war and why Cannabis is Schedule 1 and cigarettes and alcohol are not even on a schedule, though they are highly addictive and kill nearly a half million.

          • Dan Armstrong

Why bring God into this? Cocaine and heroin are plants, than again, lets legalize them too!!

          • randolini

That’s a great idea. Portugal decriminalized all drugs and over the years drug use has gone down and O.D.s have all but disappeared.

          • Lastrealindian

“I” believe that all plants have been given to us by my Creator. Read in Genesis in the first few chapters God says He gives us all that He has created for our benefit. Coca, and heroine poppies are just like marijuana as far as being plants. So do mushrooms, peyote, mescaline and I am certain I don’t know what all else is out there that can be used for medicinal reasons. Many. “HOW” one chooses to use these plants is totally up to them because the “plants” do nothing until a person decides to use them. Like guns! Guns are metal objects which have no ability to “shoot” anyone. The people who use those guns are the ones making either good or bad choices when they pull the trigger.

Yup! If it looks like a troll, walks like a troll and talks like a troll, then it’s probably a troll.

          • justafish

By the way, there have been deaths related to cannabis, just not necessarily in the way some people may think. Driving while under the influence of THC, for example, has been associated with some traffic deaths.

Again, I don’t mind if you want to dispute my claims with your own or with new evidence. That’s good and you should do that. But when you presume that I don’t want the same thing you do (truth) you burn the chances of a good mutually enriching discussion and instead turn this into something dark unnecessarily. Are you a marijuana smoker by the way? Don’t be so paranoid please. Not everyone is out to get you.

Saying things like “there’s never been one single death… in 5000+ years” actually makes your argument sound more impossible, because we are not talking about a perfect drug here, we are talking about something that has some pros and cons and may indeed be beneficial but we also know it can be a problem. I thin it’s better to put aside such huge claims and focus on what is important now and where we go from here.

          • FlunkedAgain

justafish claimed: “Driving while under the influence of THC, for example, has been associated with some traffic deaths.”

Enumerate them. How many and where?

As for your statement; “I don’t mind if you want to dispute my claims with your own or with new evidence.”
You haven’t presented any evidence in this discussion.

          • lovingc

You are lying again go play somewhere that adults aren’t talking! Your ignorance is unbelievable.

          • justafish

Accusing someone of lying and not presenting any evidence of your own counts as a massive fail. You are a troll, so why don’t you go away unless you are willing and able to counter my claims with your own evidence.

          • Antoin Novy

Show us the numbers you speak of. Name the reports that reveal how much lung cancer marijuana has caused. You gotta be a cigarette smoker. I have never seen ANY reports saying lung cancer is worse with marijuana.

          • justafish

Raw population numbers are unrealistic at this point because marijuana hasn’t been legal long enough nor does it have the same number and frequency of users as tobacco. So we have to rely on medical studies and extrapolate.

Even if it’s not worse, which is entirely possible, I believe marijuana and cigarettes ought to be subject to the same rules and tests and regulations. What’s good for one ought to be good for the other. In other words if there are health risks, those ought to be documented alongside any benefits. Honesty across the board is the key.

          • lovingc

            You are still stupid.

          • justafish

I am not a cigarette smoker by the way.

          • lovingc

            Just ignorant and bigoted?

          • lovingc

Show me! You know you are lying. All you have to do is look at the Israeli research it shows that is not the case. The anti inflammatory properties of the plant do not allow cancers to form.

          • jimbro44

Actually if you were to look in to it, one of the first longterm cannabis use studies has concluded. It found smoking 1 joint a day for TWENTY YEARS gave u you NO increase for cancer. They believe the reason is all of the anti cancer properties of so many cannabinoids and terpenes. The list of things marijuana can help with is amazing. From Parkinson to Alzheimers, ano traumatic brain injuries to thcv being used in cognitive disorders and possibly w weight/ diabetes.
And have you seen the weeded the govt grew at Mississippi State? It LITERALLY looks like lawn trimmings. They claimed a measly 13% thc snap when tested was found to be around 8%… how are you supposed t prove any health benefits w that? Plus there’s like over 60 or 70 cannabinoids, we only hear about info on maybe a dozen at most.
People have CURED cancer with it, and Sessions is dumb enough to cite “high potential for addiction and no medical use”, that’s what BEING SCHEDULE 1 MEANS. So that’s very misleading as cannabis has been misclassified.

          • justafish

Hm, I am willing to hear some of those arguments, but not when you go off saying “People have CURED cancer with it” ummmmm no, when you treat someone and they get better that is not “curing cancer” that “curing the patient”. Big difference.

          • Thomy

You are sadly mistaken justafish. I have severe “asthmatic bronchitis”, which is the result of smoking tobacco for 45 years. I finally quit in March 2017 and my lungs now in July 2017, show a blood oxygen level that’s clearly at the 90%+ level, often reaching 100% without an oxygen bottle attached to me. I am a medical Cannabis patient and I smoke a very potent form of hash and yet after smoking that hash, my blood oxygen level consistently remains NORMAL without the use of an oxygen bottle. After quitting smoking cigarettes, yet still smoking Cannabis, my lungs still cleared up beautifully. I’ll admit, I’m truly amazed but it’s the truth. I also found out that the tar produced from smoking Cannabis, is not the same as the tar produced from smoking tobacco. The tar from Cannabis actually dissolves in the lungs and clears completely after just a few minutes after smoking, where tobacco tars do not dissolve anywhere nearly as fast and chronic use of tobacco can cause other problems such as emphysema and lung cancer. My VA doctor agrees with me as well because she’s seen the results of me quitting tobacco yet still smoking hash. She was equally amazed. Cannabis is also residual in its effect on my arthritis, so I’m able to manage the pain. Before I started smoking Cannabis in 2013, I was prescribed Hydrocodone for pain relief and we all know what that can do to a person but I used it so sparingly, because it is addicting, that I had to be wreathing in pain before I would use it. Today, my pain is managed by simply smoking Cannabis and I do use Tylenol sometimes to buffer when the pain gets severe. You need to do some research before opening your mouth because your wrong this time. There is not one single case of a person documented getting emphysema, bronchitis or lung cancer from smoking Cannabis alone. The results are quite the opposite. Smoking Cannabis could be harmful but the problem with that, is they’ve never been able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt it is harmful in ANY way but they have proven it has medicinal value and you’ll never convince this long term patient it’s not beneficial to me. Cannabis does not cause asthma attacks and I am living proof. It occasionally made me cough if I tried to inhale too much of it but that same cough, was the results of me smoking cigarettes during the same period. Now that I’ve successfully, truly quit smoking tobacco, I can now inhale a much larger dose into my lungs of Cannabis smoke and it no longer bothers me to do so. In other words Cannabis can trigger an asthma attack but the attack happens because my lungs were already severely irritated from smoking tobacco and those asthma attacks happened only when I was also smoking tobacco but have stopped since quitting tobacco. Don’t take my word for it. Do your research and read what others like me have discovered before you decide to open your mouth. Eventually, everyone is going to know the “real truth” about Cannabis. No one can blame you for the way you feel because you’ve been misinformed for all these years to think otherwise. You’ll eventually “get it” and so will everyone else and all I can do is thank those and myself for voting. It’s not a miracle drug and it won’t cure everything and it won’t reverse emphysema, lung cancer and other cancers, chronic bronchitis, epilepsy or glaucoma but it will damn sure relieve arthritic pain, help control seizures and give most patients a better way of life and it is psychologically addicting to a degree but I’ve went 3 or 4 days without using as well, especially when I first started using it because I used it only when the pain arrived. Since then I’ve learned it will prevent the pain from even showing up as long as I use small amounts every day whether or not I’m actually in pain and the pain simply does not show up. My study is based on 4 years of daily use on a contemporary level, although I used to smoke it regularly years ago, I did stop smoking it for years and years. I’ve experimented with not using it and my neck pain comes back, on a severe level, in about 3 days during abstinence. I also tried only smoking it every 3 days, hoping that would be good enough but the pain actually starts to show back up after abstaining for only two days but is not nearly as severe as it is on the 3rd day of abstaining, so I’ve concluded it is necessary for me to use every day in order to render me completely pain free on a consistent level. Just inform you, I have severe arthritis in my neck, left shoulder, lower back ( actually sciatica ), both knees and I have gout in my right big toe and now in one of my left toes as well. In a way, it is a “miracle plant” and I feel the need to thank all of those folks who helped me discover that Cannabis truly does work very well but you need to study it better before opening your mouth. You could be the next patient……………………………… That really needs it……………………

          • Antoin Novy

So be straight up with us,…do you even smoke marijuana or are you just a cigarette smoker?

          • justafish

I do not smoke either. In general I have no problem with private and moderate recreational (or medical) use of either. I am only observing that the risks associated with tobacco seem conspicuously absent in the discussions about legalization of marijuana. If anything they should both be measured, taxed, and regulated on a level playing field. In my opinion.

          • Merle Raymond Noll

Justafish you work for Big Tobacco, Dont you?

          • lovingc

            Your logic is weird.

          • Monterino

Yeah! because tobacco never hurt anyone!!

        • Melissa Hofstetter

          Could not agree MORE!

        • John David Wettergreen

Good point Frank but I don’t want the federal government supplying my weed. Who knows what they will put in it, just like the additives they put in cigarettes.

          • Izzat So

Considering the quality of the cannabis already being grown by the government at the U. of Mississippi, it wouldn’t command much respect on the market.

        • RevJack

Of course black markets can be very profitable, especially for those in positions to be above the law,

        • Killer Joe Coffee

Of the eight states with the highest high school drop out rate, six are legal marijuana states. DC was worse with a 35% rate!

          • AIB01

Evidence and sources please! I live in the DC area and the drop out rate has nothing to do with the adult use of cannabis. It has everything to do with DC politics, and the under funding of the DC school system which is decided by the federal government. Have you ever heard,”taxation without representation”? I’m sure you have, but did you realize DC is still taxed but has no vote in the House or the Senate. So, what about the other 7? Again, I ask you for evidence and your sources please.

        • Killer Joe Coffee

How about we make a government program to send everyone that wants to be stoned all the time, a pay check every Friday!@

        • Buzz Vineyard

excuse me…cheap like alcohol and cigarets? a pack of smokes is close to $10 in Wa. litre of rum $13…hardly cheap [gr. of rec. store weed, under $10]

        • Dan Armstrong

I’m guessing you have zero business experience! The states tax the hell out of everything. The drug cartels don’t. You can pay $1 a gram or $5 a gram

      • Killer Joe Coffee

“medical marijuana” In Washington a naturopath can prescribe medical marijuana. Some guy at the last Seattle Smoke Out was selling prescriptions at $175 each, in one day he sold several hundred. A Seattle Times reporter got in that line and talked with the prescription seller.

    • lovingc

Dukeofhurl “Explain to me how locally grown marijuana gives money to the cartels”.
When the cartel is growing it.

      • dukeofhurl

I know growers. They’re not cartel. i guess the ones you know are cartel.

        • lovingc

Read the answer to your question.

    • Killer Joe Coffee

Legal marijuana is easily twice as expensive as cartel marijuana. There is no way, at least in Washington to determine if the marijuana was bought from a “clinic” or a criminal!

  • no one special

Would he rather I medicate with cannabis or go back to being a physician induced suicidal opioid junkie. Long term opioid use destroys people, cannabis allows the body to recover and to mend itself to the best it can.

    • Philip Cammarano

After 23 yrs on opiod’s i used cannabis to get off them and anti depressants worst drugs ever!

      • Gary Craig

It helped get you completely off? I ask because I’ve been on opioids for chronic pain for well over 16 years. I’d love to be able to ditch them. Without cannabis it would, I believe, be impossible to get off due to the pain, as well as withdrawal.

        • Marnie Culotta

I’m not completely off but I have halved my opiate use and have gone completely off of neurontin.
But Sessions refuses to see this happening. Has dug his heels in and completely refuses.
          He has to go.

        • Philip Cammarano

Gary craig I am a 62 yr old ex airborne, jungle expert etc etc put body through extremes in the service and in car wrecks mc wrecks I have chronic pain anxiety and ptsd and yes due to the wonders of a god given plant used medicinally for thousand of years! I am completely opiate free no anti psch drugs or anti depressants etc no suboxone either i won’t substitute other Chemicals! So cannabis equals relief from ptsd depression chronic pain and anxiety also makes me feel okay and able i also got off omeprazole for acid reflux and a prostate medicine and use cannabis tincture for the stomach and i beleievbe the p[rostate problem has also become less severe since i am using cannab is tincture some concentrates ie: cannabis tincture keif and bho I have also loved smoking the flower and it is the only reason i did not stick a gun in my mouth last year when the opiates and the anti depressants had me so messed up i could barely walk 10 feet unaided by a cane /walker or item to hold onto. So yes use it to get off those killing pills and go green use a doc if you do not know how to wean yourself off them!
I was on hydromorphone and morphine sulfate enough for most cancer patients, i thank my provider the good lord for giving herb to us and the cannabis goddess who has to be hooked in with mother earth! Stay green stay clean and live a life you are aware of! Peace out and good luck i will answer any more questions about withdrawing yourself from narcotic pain meds with my personal experience of doing so i advise you to consult a doctor and follow their advice i am no heath care professional.

          • Gary Craig

Sounds like you live in the right state, a progressive state. I have neck issues, lower back issues, prostate issues, blood pressure, high, issues. I take potent pain meds for my neck/back. What really pisses me off is my state went to medical cannabis in mid 2014, under a Democratic governor. In Nov 2014 we, not me, elected Republican Larry Hogan governor. Well, here it is, with almost half the year gone, we still have no mmj and it’s start is nowhere in sight. Fucking Maryland!!! Now Hogan, an anti cannabis warrior, will say “well the AG says he going after cannabis. We should just shut this down.” I’m really starting to hate this administration, and in my 59 years I’ve never hated a president. Never!!

          • i’m pill free and cannabis keeps me clean:-)

  • Rick Sizemore

JEFF SESSION BETTER BE WORRIED ABOUT HIS OWN PERJURY HE COMMITED IN FRONT OF CONGRESS.INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT CANNABIS.SEEMS LIKE HE HAS TROUBLE REMEMBERING ANYTHING ABOUT THAT STUFF BUT HE’S IS ATTACKING LEGAL CANNABIS THAT THESE STATES VOTED IN BY THE PEOPLE.

  • Bunky O’Tool

What a monumental, southern-fried dickweed! Lock Him Up!

    • HappySmoke Hancho

I couldn’t agree more Bunky. Read my comment above… AG really stands for A**HOLE GRANDE! He really is pathetic.

  • Colin Williams

Question for Ben Adlin or anyone who nkows what they’re talking about: So…congress will have to review the Rohrabacher–Blumenauer amendment by September or it will expire, which is what Sessions wants, right? So, would it be helpful to write to my local congressional leader and urge them to review and continue support for it?

    • Philip Cammarano

yes and do so repeatedly!! Call and email emails also work well!~

    • Gary Craig

It seems Sessions is getting pushback from Congress, both (R) & (D). Oh yeah, and Angus King (I).

  • SpiderDice

Is it illegal to slap the shit out of the Attorney General? Cause that’s what he needs. A bitch slap upside the head.

    • HappySmoke Hancho

      Get in line bro!!!

  • Blubber

What tmobile plan are you on?

  • ALAN GANN

THE ONLY REASONS CANNABIS IS STILL ILLEGAL IN ANY WAY AT ALL IS THEIR GREED, CORRUPTION AND IGNORANCE AND IN A**HOLE SESSIONS HE WOULD FALL UNDER ALL THREE!! WE NEED ACCESS TO THE WHOLE PLANT SO WE CAN LIVE WHOLE LIVES!! MANY NEEDLESSLY SUFFER AND A**HOLES LIKE THIS ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY THEY AND THEIR RICH BRIBERS CAN PUT IN THEIR POCKETS AND NOT MANY LIKE MYSELF THAT SUFFER FOR NO REASON (I HAVE CRPS/RSD)!! EVEN IF THEIR GREED, CORRUPTION AND EVEN THEIR IGNORANCE WILL NOT LET THEM ADMIT IT THEY ALL KNOW IT AS WELL AS WE ALL DO CANNABIS HELPS MORE THAN ANY MAN MADE PILL EVER DID OR EVER WILL!! #MakeItLegal #ResistTheirGreedAndCorruption #RiseUpAndFight #WeHaveTheNumbers

  • SandyLester

Sessions obbsession with cannabis is pathalocial.

    • HappySmoke Hancho

what else did U expect from a lying crook?

  • Andy
  • Michael Kay

Jeff Sessions is a old school rascist & must be stopped!!!

  • bill wa

Hey folks! go to “opensecrets.org” and lookup Sessions. He’s looking to seize your home through his imposed drug policy. His campaign contributions (2016) came from real estate, law firms, and some pharmaceutical companies.
To me it’s just big Pharma getting mad and manipulation through politics, because Cannabis, and Imodium (an opiod that doesn’t cross the blood/ brain barrier), WILL GET YOU OFF OPIODS, those pills the Drug compnaies manufacture. Apparently they don’t like private sector competition. Maybe they should be more honest in running their company. Companies ARE NOT PEOPLE! THEY SHOULDN’T BE ALLOWED TO MESS WITH OUR POLITICAL SYSTEM!!
Cannabis also improves veteran’s lives, and allows the vet to eat, and sleep, while the VA pumps he/ she full of pills.
Sessions gets rich off feeding vets pills!! Now he’s going to arrest them and take their property. Thanks NRA, even the one’s who fought for our country are now going to jail for wanting to live, period. What about the other rights we as citizens of this fine nation have? There’s a whole “Bill of Rights” which contains a list of our freedoms.
Ya know Mr. Sessions, even the Peasants Revolted in the 1400s, were you not in class that day? Our founding fathers founded this country with Canabis; the plant from the “Two Dog Star.” (around the Orion constellation, close to Canis Majora I think.) Washington suggested veterans should grow Hemp with their new land grants for FIGHTING IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR, remember? Figures, no one recalls the freedoms our veterans protect. Sessions, you need to smoke! Alcohol don’t work! Oh wait you probably have an interest in booze manufacture too. I think even Trump thinks he’s made a whoopsie with this one.
Sessions can’t destroy what our veterans protect. there’s too many people!!

  • Socrates Smith

In the last few years, the House and Senate let D.C. legalize cannabis twice, in direct conflict with its own Controlled Substance Act. Meanwhile in State/Federal cannabis conflict two sovereign governments have opposite regulations. Cannabis is legal in California, Washington, Oregon, Massachusetts Alaska Nevada and D.C. but its illegal under the Federal Controlled Substance Act. Each side independent enforces its own rules at which point it’s physically impossible for a citizen to comply with both at once which is whether people using cannabis cannot comply to both makes the entire premise a sham. But since D.C. is not a State and falls under Federal jurisdiction and cannot conflict with itself and must apply equally throughout the nation, therefore the Cannabis privileges Congress allowed in D.C. were bestowed upon all Americans. Federal Statue must be consistent and described criminal behavior with absolute clarity. Until Congress clarifies its intent there should be no Controlled Substance Act prosecutions for violations allowed by DC rules anywhere in the country. The U.S. Supreme Court should find there is an “implied repeal” Under the doctrine when a new Congressional Act directly conflicts with an older one is automatically nullified.

    • Philip Cammarano

We would automatically think that if we were still under constitutional law! now they pass a law convict someone somewhere of it and have a precedent set! So we suffer under illegal laws passed on us by our representatives! We all need to grow a set and hold them responsible to our desires, they work for us after all!

  • Philip Cammarano

I just wish i was 25 years younger i was a good enuff shot to take that fool out!

    • you might want to count ten and think again, and besides where are you going to take him, stay away from ball games!

  • Jimmy Dean

We all need to call our senators, every month until September. DO it! According to most senators, when they see dozens of calls per month, this becomes a very relevant topic for them as they do not regularly see this type of activity. It speaks to them and says we are watching and this is what we want. Do it! Please, and when you do, tell them to support Senate bills 777 and 778 to deschedule and create legal banking!

  • Arlan Pierce

For the most part, this is do to big money, big business and big pharmacy. If they will just follow the money trail, that is where it will lead back to. The medical side has so many leads to so many areas of sicknesses, pain and therapies. Hemp the plant, once used in many ways, was out lawed by big business, paper companies for one. It was used for making of paper, less expensive, renewable in months rather than years. He (Sessions) is not looking out for the people or the greener economy the country could be. If he get congress to go along with this debacle, they too do not care. We as the people must let them know, we want research in medical marijuana, the greener resources of hemp products. The them know WE vote and will remember who did what.

  • Steve Braverman

You can judge this book by its’ cover

  • junfanfighter

Ive little doubt that big pharma and alcohol have played a role to go with this kind of severely dated mentality.

  • Brian Arnone

These old fools need to be put out to pasture already because they are obviously mentally impaired… Show me one case where someone high on medical marijuana is committing violent crimes. And why is Cannabis continually being grouped together with this opioid epidemic and drug cartels? Cannabis has been home grown on American soil long before any Europeans ever got here. There are reasons behind these big pushes and it’s all about money and politics and not about the health and well being of the people.

  • Lastrealindian

IF, the feds crackdown on us we WILL continue with our Medicine! I refuse to allow an un-weed-u-cated man to destroy all the hard work we have in Medical Marijuana! JEFF SESSIONS “NEEDS” TO BE “WEEDUCATED” NOW!!!

    • Lastrealindian

Also, I do believe that Mr Sessions is a good guy and not an ass. I believe he believe he is helping all of us… He truly NEEDS to be literally “WEEDUCATED”.

      • HappySmoke Hancho

Sorry Kemosabee, with all respect I disagree. Sessions indeed is an ASS, is NOT helping any but himself and CANNOT be
“WEEDACATED”. He needs to be ELIMINATED! Period!! The leopard can’t change his spots my friend, especially when he doesn’t want to!

        • Lastrealindian

Happy, you have me re-thinking. You are correct.

        • Lastrealindian

Yes, but Sessions is in the office until he’s gone… We “have” to inspire people to write him a letter every day until they change their minds on marijuana and actually understand what is wrong for our own people being unable to “legally” medicate. WE need to flood their actual Postal Boxes with real letters mailed to them and the physical amount and mega mass of actual letters from the citizens they are supposed to be protecting. ALL Medical Marijuana Patients and their families all should write to Trump and Sessions!

    • HappySmoke Hancho

No, not WEEDUCATED: like so many other weeds he needs to be pulled!

      • Lastrealindian

HappySmoke, I agree with one caveat. “IF” Jeff Sessions is truly weeducated and becomes a true believer in the total benefits to our nation and the people who use legal marijuana for medicine…He just may need to re-think his stance and Trumps on WHY people use it. Damn! I wish he would become one of us.

        • HappySmoke Hancho

wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which hand fills up first! For Sessions to become Cannabis educated would first require a brain transplant. As for him becoming “one of us”, the very thought makes me puke. Didn’t they tell U? AG stands for A**HOLE GRANDE! U can’t educate ignorance my indian friend.

  • Lastrealindian

Too many years I have used marijuana. I refuse to ever change my view about this medication.

  • Tim Bambam

As I have said before I am very happy that I haven’t signed up fora medical marijuana card. If Sessions has his way the first thing he will go after is all the people who have signed up for medical marijuana.

  • Michael Bradbury

    He’s such a ****ing idiot.
    Just like his boss……

There is only one response to these morons.
Get your ass out and VOTE come congressional elections!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Votes these fuktards OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • HS61AF91

Though not in need of the benefits of medical cannabis, I fully support the individual State’s need and constitutional right to decide for each alone what its citizens choose to do, and the federal overreach needs to butt out. Such an obvious allegiance to the alcohol and tobacco industries lobbyists by the supposed neutral AG, is tantamount to unelected direction of governance. That some outdated and poorly thought-out laws remain on the books, despite political force to remove them, is neither excuse nor reason for such a letter to appear in the annals of congressional influence seeking. The demise of the legal habitual drug cartel is written on the peoples list of thing to do. So stop with the cannabis anti-propaganda campaign in the office of the USAG.

    • i do not believe
ANY group of people large or small has the right to take away any cannabis consumers rights due to a majority of bigots.

Where in the constitution is that allowable, to alienate a person when we all have those protections
face facts, the feds are the mafia

  • well said – dear friend well said – ditto on it all!

  • Danny Bradshaw

Im to high to give a flying (%#@$) and hurt to much to even want to read his dumbass litter but I did and find that his knowledge of cannabis seems to come from all of the information that the DEA just removed because of the truthful Information Act I believe saying that the government cannot spread false or knowing spread false information he’s just regurgitating s*** that’s already beenremoved from DEA web site
well you guys enjoy yourself I’m going to go smoke

  • Chino780

Fuck this guy. He has a hard on for pot smokers and is trying to persecute them, while using the opiate epidemic as his battering ram.

  • Kelly Randall

Sessions is ridiculous, and obviously mentally in another time. He needs to be replaced with someone who is up to date with research and facts regarding cannabis. I just hope the president sees the business side of the legalization and disagrees with Sessions.

  • Eliao Jah

It’s interesting how Jeff Sessions uses the “big pharma” induced opioid
epidemic as an example of why his office should go after
cannabis…..could you be anymore clueless or better yet, corrupt?

    • HappySmoke Hancho

Hey, don’t U know? AG really stands for ASSHOLE GRANDE. Fits doesn’t it?

    • HappySmoke Hancho

Don’t U know? The initials AG really stand for A**HOLE GRANDE. They don’t come much bigger!

  • Phillip Andre

    Wow!! SMFH

  • JJ Jameson

What an impotent idiot! Anything Sessions does to stop MMJ will be reversered in the next administration and definitely felt in the 2018 elections. He’s a crook, if you don’t already know, google how he framed an imprisoned Alabama democrat opponents. Kick him out with Trump!!

  • Tian Li

If Sessions is successful Trump will be a one-term President.

    • aCountryVegan

And you actually think Trump has a chance for a second term when he will probably be impeached in his first term.

    • HappySmoke Hancho

      or less…

  • Jason Young

Sessions is a cocksucker with some elderly detached from reality attitude, bitter old racist from the south tryna make a bang before he gets thrown out for messing with Russian cartels. Notice how he never mentions Russian cartels being a problem. Boris smokes Siberian Kush and drinks Vodka! Lol

  • Ramon Holguin

From what I understand, Sessions has alot of stock in GEO the for profit prison company. Session has sent out a memo to all jurisdictions across the country for judges to give maximum penalties to all drug and violent crime cases. Sad to say but We the People are being led down a path of isolationism much like North Korea! The wall Trump wants to build is not meant to keep people from coming in illegally. It is meant to keep Americans from fleeing our country as Trump isolates us from the rest of the world.

  • Trey South

How absurd. What a little Nazi. Google drug laws in Portugal. Complete legalization of EVERYTHING in 2001 and every thing has gone down… usage, addiction, deaths, crimes, etc. There has never been a single death by marijuana in the last 10,000 years of recorded history. Can’t say that about alcohol or tobacco. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/18aaec745098cfb4adda0dd864fe306c35dad7762f5501598c74d2291c521cdc.jpg Not to mention what happened to State’s rights?

  • Mark Skinner

Another redneck wants the impossible. I say impossible because the issue of cannabis being legalised is not going to go away like Sessions would want. There is just too much popular opinion out there in every Western society. People no longer believe the lies they have been told about drug crazed, violent reefer madness that the Governments have pushed down people’s throats since Anslinger started HIS campaign back in the 1930’s. Legalisation is inevitable because people now know that the worst health affect is a bad case of the munchies.

  • FradyCat5

Congress needs to act. DOJ does not make law. Call, write or visit your Representatives and Senators.

  • John David Wettergreen

They might try to make it illegal but history proves they will NEVER stop it. If the majority of Americans think it should be legal-then it should be. Sessions is nothing but a racist liar anyway

    • and by making it illegal for cannabis consumers to take part in society, how do they differ than others in other countries, shooting people and cutting off their heads. Its just the usa slaves their people sneeky like, and they make people not care, by tainting a persons worth as a human by saying they are convicted because they are warred upon, which criminalizes people with hate the cannabis lovers’ laws, and that is meant to nullify a persons worth as a human being, to keep the people from being aware, as if the common people sees a news blurb in a newspaper for instance, so and so gets 20 years for a joint or life, and they are like too bad for him, and forget about it, he was a convict, end of story, and it needs to STOP! who will rescue, and or will help those held captive by a stubborn stupid war bent mafia war government who lives to drink their drunken martinis, living on the backs of cannabis users of those they fine, as those in government enjoy their sofas they acquired through confiscations, which is stealing, and enjoy their living wages, while all else gets minimum wages, and the better jobs that are not toxified in some way through inhalation of toxins, etc, they always test to make sure only non cannabis users can have the jobs that are nice, which is why i believe it is best for a goal to live off the grid, and not take part in the warmongers in any way possible; if possible, through working for ones self, looking for gold or some thing like that, and a person does not need to tear up the mountains and uglify the country either, as one can look underwater for it, so their is no excuse for not looking for it. It is there, i have seen flour gold in Denver, and it flows through the city by the tons, and i was told it would be too expensive to sort it out from the chromium flakes, and but i cant believe there isnt some way to sort it, but what ever, seems to me a person could earn better than minimum wages simply by figuring out how to sort out the chromium flakes of a free gold resource from the river that comes from the mountains continuously. I only mention that it is not necessary to live as a slave to a government if one doesw not want too, now, i think i will toke:-)

Damn near every libtard on this page is totally against Sessions while they are even sure “why” he BELIEVES the old “Reefer-Madness” shit! THE MAN NEEDS TO SIT DOWN WITH ONE OF OUR BEST MEDICAL MARIJUANA REPRESENTATIVES! IS THERE EVEN A SINGLE PERSON “TRYING” TO CONTACT PRESIDENT TRUMP ABOUT THIS SERIOUS MATTER? I DON’T KNOW “HOW” TO GET A MESSAGE DIRECTLY TO THIS MAN. I WOULD BE WILLING TO TESTIFY IN COURT ABOUT MY MEDICAL MARIJUANA EXPERIENCES. WILL SOMEONE HELP ME DO THIS? NO ONE ELSE HAS THE FRIGGN BALLS TO STEP UP TO THE PRESIDENT EXCEPT ME, AN OLD MAN AND PHYSICALLY DISABLED, IF GIVEN THE ONE ON ONE CHANCE. NOT A SINGLE MEDICAL MARIJUANA GROUP HAS ANY FING BALLS TO TALK WITH DONALD TRUMP. I WILL IF GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY. I AIN’T SCARED OF ANY PERSON ON THIS PLANET.

    • good luck
the mayor wont even talk with me, so its hard to believe that they’re agenda is morally kosher

  • when it is legal, should their types be arrested for high treason, and for all the pain and suffering that THEY smugly endorsed terrorizing people of their own country with their mafia hate groups, see picture

  • Ron Mctague

Has Trump hired a dictator, Jeff Sessions! does this man think what he wants is more important than what the people want? he is in the wrong country! how can he think that he is right about pot.and the doctors are all wrong.he must have an interest in pharm.stocks. i guess”we the people” dosen’t matter!

  • rygg

“The Department,” he continued, “must be in a position to use all laws
available to combat the transnational drug organizations and dangerous
drug traffickers who threaten American lives.” – Oh ok, you mean like Merk, or Bristol Sqibb; maybe Walgreens and CVS…oh wait, they’re the ones greasing politrixians pockets to pull this uncivilized barbarism. Not getting enough tax dollars on booze and cigarettes anymore either, huh? Typical duopoly entitlement. The Cons on one side with their morality entitlement (they’re on a diet so no one else can have a doughnut), and the cRats on the other side of things regarding what they consider to be public money (which is really just stolen…it’s somehow greedy of me to want to keep my earnings and somehow not greedy of them to demand it). I’ve had enough of this thievery, be it my personal sovereignty regarding peaceful pursuits of happiness, or my financial freedom. I can’t afford for ANYONE Con or cRat to be stealing from me anymore. It’s becoming a matter of self defense, and I will react accordingly.

    • I am about to react, by torching up my cannabis oil filled pipe:-)

      • rygg

Right? I’ve been doing the “carry on and say nothing” thing for a loooooong time !! m/ Here we voted medical legal 3 times 20 years ago and on the last one (back then), Bill Clinton personally spoke on it and said he would personally prosecute any Dr that prescribes it. These libiots are going to have to forgive my long memory. I’m disgusted by the entire duopoly, especially them. Gary Johnson 2020 !!

      • Gary Craig

        < Is envious!!

  • :-

  • i notice the skin on sessions face is lacking collagen, as the mutation of his cells called aging is showing its tell tale sign that sessions has not been keenly interested in the stopping of his senseless aging he enforces, through his lack of what they used in the ancient Jewish Septuagint, which told of a time way back, when their used to be people of the mindset, that they loved every part of the cannabis plant, as they found its worth to extend their lives beyond comprehension to todays mindset of folk who on their entertainment centers they enjoy watching people get shot in their westerns and stuff , which desensitizes people further to people worth as a human being

  • Kaos

Looks like Big Pharma may conquer the SHEEPLE again!!! POT BAD! Opiates Good!!!
Cold winters don’t seem nearly as bad now!!! That’s Y it’s called “The Great White North”!!! Getting GREENER by the day!!

  • realpatriot2

Aren’t there crimes across america a little more serious than someone (me) using my homegrown marijuana medicine to control my seizures and be able to walk for Sessions. I swear to God I wish he had uncontrollable seizures and mobility problems. I want to laugh at his pain, like he does mine. Come get me a..hole, I’ll be ready.

  • lovingc

Sessions urged federal lawmakers to oppose the provision, known as the Rohrabacher–Blumenauer amendment. Congress told Sessionss to take a long walk off of a short pier!

  • Gabriella Matheus Contri

Does anyone else get the “Village of the Damned” vibes when they look at him?

    • HappySmoke Hancho

no but its easy to picture him with a long red cape, horns and a pitch fork with that beady wicked grin of his!

  • Merle Raymond Noll

This will destroy America. Jeff Sessions is a fucking idiot! I am going to have to move to fucking Canada. FUCK!

  • Waah

All the crimes of the last 8 years and Sessions has time for this?I had hopes for him, but he seems like a pos now. He has quit cases instead of protecting his boss, but now he thinks weed is the big deal to tackle? Loose cannon here. Needs replacing now.

  • Regina

Jeff Sessions, Only a weasel this stupid, needs to realize Everything you, and what you want to do, will bring your OWN Drug Cartel down to it’s knees! That is your pharmaceutical connection (worldwide) to whatever drugs you kind demands! Ya’ll love chemicals!!!

Cannabis is a threat your business, which is NOT killing the people, polluting our waters, air, food, and replenishing our soil and healing us as a medicine.
While pharma meds (the majority of them) Do!* like your heroin epidemic is in control of right now!
On the other hand our Mother-Earth produces our medicine from the whole plant…something you need to learn more of, FAST, so you don’t waste Tax payer money like the last Administration did!
Congress will not go against the will of its people to satisfy your petty Greed like you want to enjoy if you can! What you are doing is stupid and insane you and all your kind need to go to jail..for crimes against Humanity..to many years you blame the people for the drugs, you need a fall guy..Ok!.While the CIA, FBI, DEA seizes HUGE!!!!! amounts of drugs being brought into this country; give it a week it will be all over the place and on the streets..we know it’s your office doing this injustice. Holder and Obama proved that…so, you want to be just like them too! This Country will laugh at you trying to play with the big boy’s without support from ABOVE, Which you will lose..dont put yourself in a position with the Creator, when you turned your back on all of God’s people! I don’t Envy your decision at all!
Don’t expect to do Evil and not effect everything you want to accomish, will be beneficial ..it will turn in on itself iand destroy everything You do! You are not in 3D; this is 5D..what you do will reflect on, all of Who you are.. You can not serve Your Southern Baptist Bible God and Slufoot at the same time!
Read Gen 1:11, 29; Isa 55:9-11; Rev 22:2. Or is it; Now, you’e in with the big boys, you got Power; THEN, YOU NEVER BELIEVED IN THE WORD OF GOD IN THE FIRST PLACE!! It was all a big joke to WHOM???

  • RevJack

Call your Congress person to end Sessions.

  • RevJack

BTW I notice that we are not free from trolls here. I know there are many that are paid by organizations like the military, alcohol and big pharma. They annoy by spouting obvious lies. They can damage through character assassination. Ultimately though the problem isn’t the jerk on the payroll or even the programed stooge. The problem is the nearly unlimited power of corporations and the rich who control them and a political system where every office is basically for sale. If we can’t create a government and a society actually of by and for the people, we will find ourselves in a worse position than medieval serfs who were owned and had no more power than the sheep they tended for their masters.

  • Lee Ingalls

He reminds me of the little Nazi on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In (Arte Johnson) only Sessions isn’t funny. Ridiculous yes. Sinister yes. Bought off by Big Pharma? Looks that way.

I hope Sessions does some research on real facts instead of helping to push the NWO Agenda. He is making this Administration look bad. Trump needs to nip it in the bud. We are not slaves to these public servant. They work for us. Stop the insanity already.

This is to steal revenue from states who are for medical cannabis. This vegetable will put Big Pharma and MK Ultra and the Drug Industry out of business and shut down many evil agencies who only terrorize us and steal for themselves. It is looking like he needs to be fired, immediately.

This is when people need to come together and tweet the President about this evil little man who is out to ruin this Country.

Let’s all come together and do something positive and Thank our President for his efforts and to stop the madhatter in the doj. He needs to be replaced. The sooner the better.
