Cannatonic reviews
I original grew this one at home for my wife, since she enjoys more of the low THC strains with CBD…her tolerance is pretty low and she prefers a milder high.
Cannatonic was easy to grow and a single plant yielded about 4 ounces of dry weight bud. I processed most of it into a cannabis oil using Dr. Bronners coconut oil. Tried it a couple of times and this stuff is anything but weak. Based on my calculations, a teaspoon of this stuff should be about 11 mg of THC and 20 mg of CBD. I consume it at night, with a teaspoon or more dissolved in herbal tea, and it knocks me out. At first, I get a nice head high that lasts about an hour, and then a nice body buzz sets in that out a me to sleep. No negative effects in the morning…a cup of green tea and I’m ready to go with no residual buzz. This is an excellent, mild, and strain that produces a mellow, relaxed high. Perfect for a weekday night when you’re stressed and need to sleep.

I got this strain in tincture form from trumeds in phoenix. Tasted horrible with overpowering taste of alcohol. No medical properties what so ever. I do not recommend this stain.
The description here said that the effects were relatively short lived, that was definitely not my experience! I put a tiny half of a grain of rice size of CO2 extracted oil under my tongue, it took about an hour to kick in, but then it lasted 8 hours! The effects people talk about lasted around 4 hours, but then the general pain relief effects lasted an additional 4-5 hours. It made me just a tiny bit couch locked, but in a nice way, and made me kind of classically high - chill and amenable.
Unfortunately though, I did not experience the level of pain relief that is said to be an effect of Cannatonic. My body felt good, but when a muscle spasmed, or a nerve screamed, I did still feel it. It was muted, but not enough for me to say that Cannatonic is a go-to for pain. Frida, by Raven Grass is going to remain my best bud.
The particular phenotype that I'm writing about here is 'Cannatonic #3', and the cannabinoid percentages are very similar to the original but the terpenenoid content is reported as being close to 4%, and I don't doubt that it is. It's definitely loud and the scent profile is not only strong but very pleasant and distinct as well. The sweet citrus smell dominates and hits your olfactory receptors first, followed by a more complex and hard to describe rich and earthy and possibly woody aroma. A gorgeous scent I've yet to see matched by any other flower I've tried, which is a lot. The taste is similar and the overpowering sharpness of the citrus smooths out the flavor, cutting any harshness and lingering in the back of the mouth and throat for a while after a hit.
As great as the flavor is on these magnificently bred and grown sticky green nuggets, it's the effect profile that really shines with this sympathetic strain. It seems to feel your pain and gives you exactly what you were looking for. Relief comes fast, releasing any tension and leaving the muscles limp and joints feeling new again thanks to the CBD and terpene profile's strong anti-inflammatory properties. The mind is left similarly at ease as the stress and anxiety quickly dissolve away, leaving you blissfully carefree and pain free but without the uncontrollable fixations and mind wandering caused by higher THC levels for many of us. I prefer using it at night due to the sedative effects I experience, but most report it to be a functional daytime flower due to the relatively lower THC content.
Cannatonic is the ultimate medicinal cultivar out of all I've sampled to date. The effects are everything I'm looking for and it checks all the boxes for smell, taste, and experience in a plant bred for medicinal use as a pain reliever, whether physical or emotional/cognitive. Perfect for a user with a lower tolerance looking for strong overall relief of any type of discomfort. Rarely do we encounter such a well rounded specimen of cannabis perfection that smells and tastes amazing, cures all that ails, and leaves you blissfully content with the world and yourself.
it gives me a mild high combined with a gentle sense of relaxation.
I have no paranoia and normally I am functioning again after a couple of hours. (Despite still being able to feel "the breeze")
Anxious as hell, doesn’t help my anxiety
I have bad back and nerve pain due to spinal stenosis and a bulging disk at L4/5.
Normally, I get the highest THC strain I can get my hands on to kill the pain. I was shocked when my budtender told me about this strain and how it helps with pain.
I decided to give it a try tonight and i'm pleasantly suprised. This would be the perfect strain for someone wanting to dip their toe into smoking but might be to afraid. The high is extremely low and almost non existent.
My pain has definetly improved after tacking a few hits. I feel more relaxed without the intense side effects of higher THC levels.
Don't get me wrong, I still love the ride, but this one is worth the try.
I typically get a good buzz from smoking it and as well as body edibles make a good relaxing day I'm also very focused and productive some days it make me sleepy but for the most part i get alot of shit done goes good with morning coffee definitely one of my favorite strains I started growing this strain last winter 2022 and can't wait for fall harvest
