What Are You Smoking?

Episode 47: Ethan Russo and What’s In Your Cannabis

In this episode:

Today on the show, Will and Bailey are joined by storied cannabis researcher and neurologist Dr. Ethan Russo. Dr. Russo has authored dozens of papers and books about the medical potential of cannabis, and currently serves as Director of Research and Development for the International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institute.

On the latest episode of What Are You Smoking, Dr. Russo weighs in on the many pesticides that may be lurking in cannabis throughout Washington. Learn what to look for, what’s worth avoiding, and why consumers and legislators alike should be lobbying for more stringent testing of the products on dispensary shelves.

We’ll also talk about how cannabis legalization might actually be making contamination more widespread, and why the most important thing to know about buying cannabis is how to talk to your budtender.

To learn more about Dr. Russo’s research on pesticides and other issues in commercial cannabis, you can read his paper on the topic in the journal Frontiers of Pharmacology.
