Concentrate slurry

During extraction, a concentrate slurry is the mixture of cannabis plant matter and chemical solvent in a closed-loop system before purging. Depending on the solvent and cannabis material used, the slurry may be solid, liquid, runny, or airy. A concentrate slurry contains high levels of solvent and is not safe for consumption until it has been purged.

“A vacuum oven is necessary to properly purge your concentrate slurry into a BHO.”

What is concentrate slurry?

Cannabis concentrates made through chemical extraction, such as BHO, PHO, or CO2, add a chemical solvent to cannabis plant material to strip off trichomes—this mixture is a concentrate slurry. After trichomes are removed from the plant, a concentrate slurry must be purged of chemicals before it is safe for consumption.
This purging process may involve heating the slurry in a vacuum oven or other processes. Depending on the plant material—flower, trim, etc.—and the solvent used, the concentrate slurry can be solid, liquid, runny, or airy. Purging is only the first next step in a long line of processes required to refine a concentrate before it can be consumed.
