More about CBD sprays for pets
Two different products share this shelf: sprays for the mouth and sprays for the coat or skin, so check which one you are looking at first. Look at the species on the label, since dog and cat formulas are not written the same way, and at whether the extract is broad spectrum or THC-free. Milligrams per bottle mean little without milligrams per pump. A batch-specific lab report should be easy to find.
Sprays sit alongside tinctures, capsules, and food in the pet aisle, and the choice usually comes down to what your animal will tolerate. Pet treats put a similar extract into something edible, which some owners find simpler to manage. Ask your veterinarian before giving any hemp product to an animal, and check your state's rules first.
Frequently Asked Questions about CBD sprays for pets
What is a hemp spray for pets?
A pet spray is a hemp or cannabis extract in a liquid base, packaged with a pump top so you mist it onto food or, in some products, onto the coat, instead of measuring with a dropper. Talk to your veterinarian before giving any cannabis or hemp product to your animal. THC is toxic to dogs, and pet sprays are typically formulated without it, which is why labels usually state zero or trace THC. Sprays split into two kinds, so read the front of the bottle: oral sprays meant to go on or in food, and topical or coat sprays meant for fur and skin. Labels list cannabinoid content per spray and per bottle, the base ingredients, and an animal weight range. What is sold depends on your state.
Why would I pick a spray over a dropper for my animal?
A pump delivers the same amount every time without you holding a dropper steady, which helps with an animal that will not sit still or dislikes anything coming toward its mouth. Misting also spreads the liquid across the bowl instead of pooling it in one spot, so a fussy eater is less likely to notice. Check whether the bottle is labeled for oral use or for the coat, since the two are not interchangeable.
Are pet sprays available near me?
That depends on your market. Check licensed dispensaries near you on Leafly to see which shops list pet products, and check delivery options near you if you would rather not travel.
