Elevate Your Galentine’s Day With These Social StrainsJanelle LassalleFebruary 12, 2019
Set on February 13th, the day before Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day is just plain wonderful. It requires no date, no expensive dinner, no heartache. It “should be a national holiday,” according to Leslie herself.
For this fun occasion, I put a own cannabis-friendly spin on it—check out these social-boosting strains to liven up the holiday.
Mountain Girl Lemon by Pilot Farms in Oregon

Yes, we’ve taken our sweet, sweet time to get this right — to perfect our own premium farm-made pre-rolls, filled with the best of Pilot Farm, for everyone who believes in the craft and care of cannabis. Precision-milled and tamped directly from freshly opened A-Grade Flower bags (heat sealed, nitrogen flushed, humidity controlled, non-permeable), we present seven fine-tuned jennys, standing proudly together in a custom recyclable tube, each ready to answer the call ~ Let The Good Times Roll.
If you aren’t familiar with Oregon’s very own Pilot Farm, allow me to fill you in: Based outside Ashland, Pilot Farm’s grow is the very mountain itself. It’s an 80-acre plot of land set on a high elevation mountain farm overlooking the Colestin Valley. Maybe it’s the kiss of the mountain sun, the fresh water, or native soil—either way, the effect of the all-natural grow is most evident in their Mountain Girl Lemon strain.
This tasty strain is a new version of Limonene-soaked flower: energetic, uplifting, and cheery, it’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Find it at Jayne in Portland.
Electric Lemonade by Palomar Craft Cannabis in California
As if the name alone wasn’t enough to conjure up sunny days spent with blunts in hand, the folks at Palomar Craft Cannabis have given us the gift that is Electric Lemonade. A cross between Blue Dream and Tahoe OG, this hybrid is perfect for getting the creative juices flowing, making it an ideal strain for arts and crafts. It’s energetic and infinitely creative, grown with only natural biological controls, and has a tangy sour lemon taste that’ll have you hooked from the first hit.
XJ-13 by Chong’s Choice in Nevada
A cross between Jack Herer and a G13 Haze, XJ-13 is a consistently uplifting hybrid. It gets a nice euphoric lift from the Jack Herer, immediately putting your at ease while the G13 Haze boosts creative tasks and conversation. Chong’s Choice XJ-13 is a fine example of this cultivar. It’s visually arresting with an intoxicating smell, layering deep notes of earthy pine set against strong citrus. This is a great pick for an energetic strain that doesn’t come with any paranoia. Passing through Nevada? Find it at Planet 13 in Los Vegas.

Sweetwater Farms is a pure delight. They’re one of the rare farms who are extremely transparent about their cannabis, giving customers some very helpful infographics that detail their offerings. My favorite Galentine’s Day pick is their Candyland strain, a 7030 hybrid that smells like sweet, delicious candy. It’s a cross between Platinum GSC and Granddaddy Purple, which provides a nice mellowed out high for both body and mind. Primary terpenes like caryophyllene and linalool balance it out beautifully, leaving you with a sweet lil’ nug that’s as uplifting as it is relaxing. Find it at American Mary in Seattle.

@aaronjameshoward in the midst of the breakdown stage. Breakdown is the process that comes immediately after harvesting where we create smaller flower segments from the larger stem so that they can be hung in our drying facility and then cured. . 🌱 ➡️ 🏤 Steps from harvest to shelf: . Evaluate maturity of flower > Harvest into containers > Breakdown > Fan leaves removed in preparation for 10-day slow dry > 3 week minimum cure on stem > Onsite cold storage for optimal flower preservation > Sealed in food-grade vacuum bags in 2-4 lb quantities to reduce oxidation > Hand-trimmed to order. . It’s no secret that I am obsessed with the CBD cultivars being produced at East Fork Cultivars. One of their latest strains is The Church, a cross between Swiss Skunk x Northern Lights. If that alone wasn’t enough to entice you, let’s dive into its rich terpene profile. With over 4% terpenes, the cultivar contains a mix of myrcene, caryophyllene, limonene, humulene, and farnesene. Add on a delicious THC to CBD ratio and you wind up with a product containing 11.5% CBD and 7.24% THC. If there was a perfect flower on earth, this would be it. The low THC makes it a great option for canna-curious folk or those with THC sensitivities, allowing you to toke and party prep like a boss. Find it at MindRite in Portland.
Scooby Snax by Veritas Cannabis in Colorado
There comes a special time at the end of every Galentine’s Day party where all you want to do is smoke and eat Ben & Jerry’s. Veritas Cannabis provides the perfect option with their tasty Scooby Snax. A cross between Cherry Pie and Veritas Cookies, this strain is chock-full of limonene and caryophyllene, two useful terpenes to balance out the heaviness of the myrcene. There’s also a little humulene thrown into the mix, too, which just may help prevent you from eating all of the cookies before the end of the night. Find it at Rocky Mountain Cannabis in Dinosaur.
